Chapter 7: The Only Thing That Matters Is Tackling

"You should really stop getting into fights with the sport clubs."

Gion turned to Haruko as they sat down eating lunch. Gion had yet again argued with one of his seniors and had to resign from the club.

"They started it, saying I can't play because of my size."

Haruko placed her chopsticks down as she turned to Gion. "We will be moving on to High School next year. If you keep this up, you won't be able to find a single club."

He stayed silent as he looked down at the sandwich in his hand.

"You'll find a club that you'll like. And once you do, I hope you enjoy it to the fullest."

He looked at her as she had her eyes closed thinking.

"Of course!" He pointed his thumb to himself grinning. "And once I join one, you're gonna join with me!"

She looked at him grinning before laughing. "Of course I will! If I wasn't there, you'd give the club a headache!"

"What do you mean by that?!"

Haruko was helping Umeno setting up the water bottles.

"Rugby's a blast, huh?" She looked over to see Ebumi pulling Gion's arm. "Say that after you've learned to actually catch the ball!"

Haruko looked over to Matsuo who stood near them watching the scene unfold. "Um Matsuo-san, did Gion do something while I wasn't around?"

"Don't worry about it." He waved her off. "It's Gion being Gion."

"As you say that, I understand the situation already." She laughed before look back at the bottles she was twisting the caps on while he went up to Gion.

Once the first set of drills were over, Komori gave them a chance to rest.

"Meet on the field at 2:30." Komori walked away as everyone was taking a rest. "We'll run a Gewalt this afternoon."

"A what?"

"Oh, right. You kids don't call it that." Komori said as Haruko walked onto the field with boxes full of jersey covers. "It's a practice match."

"It will be a 12 on 12 match." Komori explained. "Team A vs Team B, team B will head over to Aoyama-san to get Jersey covers."

Team A:

Shinshi, Hachioji, Hirota, Kashima, Iwashimizu, Sekizan, Kamo, Oharano, Gion, Takebe, Suwa, Kibi

Team B:

Ohisae, Hyosu, Atsuta, Mikami, Kitamachi, Kasuga, Sumiyoshi, Matsuo, Noka, Isei, Ebumi, Kifume

As their names were called, team B headed over to Haruko who handed out the green jersey covers to them.

"The starters will be Team A. Reserve players will be team B." Komori stated as everyone was putting on their helmets. "Team A will kick off."

Haruko sat herself with the extra members who were on the sidelines not playing with her dummies rule book by hand.

"I didn't know rugby could be played 12-on-12."

"Technically it's not suppose to be 12-on-12." They turned to Haruko as she skim through her book. "Usually games would consist of 15-on-15, but as you can tell..."

"We don't have enough members on the team. Each side is missing two forwards and one back each."

They turn back to watch Nako running across the field stating how he was going to earn a spot on team A but was shut down as Gion tackled him down.
