The cave is dark and moist, water dripping onto my black hair. It is hard to see, but my werewolf sight helps me make my way to Nikolai. I walk for probably a minute, reaching him.
He seems to be waiting on me impatiently, tapping his bare foot on the caves floor. The thumping of the action echoes around us, breaking the silence of the cave.
Still in only a pair of shorts, I look over his body, starting at the top. His hair is so dark that it is hard to see in the cave. His slightly crooked nose fits his face well, making him look badass, knowing it's probably been broken multiple times. There is a scar from his eyebrow to near his eye, making me wonder how he got it. Only silver or wolfsbane can leave a scar on a werewolf.
My eyes trail down, his lips are pink and plump, ready to be kissed. Breaking away from his lips, I admire his chiseled chest and stomach, everything on show. His arms are huge, looking like they could crush me any second.
"Are you done staring? I've left them alone for too long," he mutters, seeming bashful under my wandering gaze. I didn't realize just how much time I spent ogling him, but it must have been a while since he asked me to hurry up.
"All done staring," I mutter, embarrassed I was caught. The second part of his sentence makes me pause. "You've left them alone for too long? How long were you gone?"
"Only a day. I needed time away from my annoying Beta and Gamma. They are always up my ass and I can't stand it." He continues walking, me following behind him slightly.
"Tell me about your pack," I say as I realize that this cave goes on for a while. I can't see the light at the end of it, meaning it must be far away.
"Well as you have probably guessed, it is made up of rogues. People who were kicked out of their pack. Not all of them are dangerous, only a few, but those who are, are supervised. I don't let the innocent rogues get hurt." He doesn't look away from in front of him, never making eye contact.
"You feel the need to protect them," I state, guessing more about his past. He probably was made rogue but was innocent. The person who hurt him must've been the one who kicked him out.
"Yea, I guess I do. Don't know why though," he mumbles, not being intune with his emotions and how they correlate with his life.
Letting him figure it out on his own, we walk in silence. I enjoy it, knowing that it's going to end soon.
I will be back in a pack setting, which scares me slightly. What if I grow too comfortable around them and someone gets hurt? What if I lose everyone, including my mate? I don't think I would survive another loss that great.
A light appears at the end of the tunnel, meaning we are getting close. Nikolai speaks up, warning me. "You may be my Luna, but they don't know that. They will see you as below them until you prove you are worthy. Don't take it personally and don't get offended."
I just nod, mentally preparing myself for what I'm walking into.
I'm walking into the lion's den, and I have to prove myself as worthy of their respect.
It may be hard, but I will gain their respect and lead them, with the help of my mate. I will help not only Nikolai, but also the pack.
We will all be better for it.
