Aaron Hotchner never thought he would be back at the prosecution stand.

He loved the BAU. He loved his team, but after the casualties of his marriage and Haley's life, he couldn't get himself to continue.

So here he was, back at the courthouse.

The first person he'd be prosecuting is 26 year old Abigail Lopez.

She murdered her ex boyfriend. Stabbed him right in the heart.

Today was her arraignment, Aaron knew he didn't have to be here. He very well could have sent his assistant, but he refused to sit at his desk all day and let thoughts of Haley's dead body consume him, so here he was sitting in his car at the courthouse parking lot.

He watched as a Tesla pulled into the spot next to him. He already knew you were the lawyer just by the Tesla.

He watched you get out of car and smooth out your skirt. He immediately thought you were beautiful but he shook his head, he just missed Haley.

Staring at you a bit longer he thought you looked familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on why.

Aaron exhaled as he watched you walk away. It was still early but he should probably head in soon too.

Aaron was hit by immediate de ja vu as he entered the courthouse, being flooded with memories of countless victories with putting bad guys behind bars. Dare he say he missed that. Even though he did that in the BAU (physically) but at least he would ensure their fate here.

Taking a deep breath, Aaron pushed the door to the courtroom open. You and who he was prosecuting were already seated.

He felt your eyes on him as he got himself settled at the prosecution stand.

"All rise."

Aaron watched as you gracefully stood up and smoothed down your skirt again.

He started to profile you, 'perfectionist yet insecure, high class...' He thought to himself but stopped as the judge mentioned his name.

Aaron nodded at the judge a quick thanks.

The judge looked over at you, "miss L/N."

Aaron's eyes narrowed, 'L/N' you must be the daughter of F/N. If you were anything like your father he knew he'd have a challenge but he doubted he'd lose.

He never lost against your father.

Aaron could barely focus on the arraignment at hand, he was rather focused on you.

Once the arraignment ended he observed as you swiftly got up and walked out.

He didn't know why but he wanted to follow you out.

He copied her movements and followed her as she walked over to a vending machine in an isolated hallway.

"You're the daughter of F/N." Aaron got behind you as you punched the numbers of the drink you wanted into the machine.

You froze up a little but didn't bother turning around, "I am." You simply say.

Aaron shook his head he shouldn't be speaking to you. This was against the rules. However he didn't stop, something about you was alluring, instead he crossed his arms, "how do you do this job?"

The drink you got fell to the bottom of the vending machine with a clank and you bent down to pick it up. You slowly turned around and looked up, making eye contact with him.

"I just do it." You open you drink and take a sip, keeping the eye contact.

"How? How do you protect monsters? Killers, rapists..."

"I've never defended a rapist, I have morals."

"I remember your father defended a few."

Aaron watched as something flashed through your eyes, it almost looked like fear, maybe guilt? It quickly faded though as you shook your head.

"Why are you talking to me?" You cross your arms.

"No reason." Aaron brushes past you and starts using the vending machine.

You swallow, feeling intimidated, you hated this feeling and you refused to show it.

"So I guess we will be seeing each other a lot." Aaron says, back towards you.

"I guess so."

"Good luck with this case Ms.L/N."
