"Mother, mother, mother, mother, mother," I started saying before the painting could fully wake up.

Already starting to open she asked, "What's the rush? Is everything okay?"

"MOther, moTher," I mumbled, opening the door and closing it behind me. "Yea, I'm good." I leaned up against the door, sliding down. Looking down at the scarf in my hand I threw it onto my bed. Pulling on the bottom of the sweater, I pulled it out enough to see the letter G, knitted on it.

"You're not going home for the holiday's?" Hermione asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Hermione. This is my home," I said. My elbow was on the table and my cheek rested in the palm of my hand.

"But you don't have another house? It's always just been this place?" She asked.

"Well, I mean. Technically I have my parents house once I'm of age or gramps passes. I haven't been there in years. There are a couple house elves that live there. They take care of the house and honestly just live their lives. I've never seen a point in going there, grandpa sometimes goes, just to check in. But it's easier to just stay here."

"Don't you have any other family?"

"No."

"Sorry."

"Why? It's not your fault. I have Grandpa. Who else could I need?" I asked, smiling at her. "Are you going to stay here for Christmas?" I asked Harry.

"I signed up as soon as I saw we could stay here," Harry said, trying to focus on the chest game in front of him.

"Fred, George, Percy and I are staying here this year as well," Ron said, moving one of his pieces. "Mom and Dad are going to visit Charlie." He added, 'killing' another one of Harry's players. "Checkmate."

"I'm no good at this game," Harry mumbled, placing his chin in the palm of his hands.

"You'll get the hang of it," I said, patting his back. I still had to get some last minute presents. But besides that. I had everyone set. Speaking of which. Reaching into my pocket I pulled out a small box wrapped in red wrapping paper and handed it over to Hermione. "Before I forget, merry christmas. Don't open it yet though. I just know this is my last day before you go home. And most nonmagic families aren't very fond of our owls delivering."

"My parents have been trying to be understanding, so thank you. And thank you so much! That reminds me. I have you present up in our room. I planned on putting it under the tree before I left. You have to write to me to tell me how your Christmas goes," Hermione said, smiling at all of us. She was the only one going home this year. Which was fine, she would be the one to still find answers, even when she's not at a magically school.

"So did you hear our Olivia?" Fred asked, hanging over my shoulder. I saw George running up the stairs to the left, going up into the dorms.

"I did, I'm excited. We can open presents together," I said, reaching up and patting his cheek.

"Yes. And I've been meaning to ask if you'd like to spend the rest of the holiday's with my family and me. George was going to ask you but he had to go to the dorms real quick."

"I don't know. I usually just end up staying here."

"We know. That's why we asked our parents if you could come. What a great way to go into the next year by spending it with your friends instead of staying in a drafty castle."
