Moonlit Confession (Tsukkiyama)

After Voleyball practice, the team had gone home but the two childhood friends decided to stay back and eat. Night seemed like a perfect time to eat pork buns to Yamaguchi, so ofcourse Tsukkishima accompanied him. .

"How is it Tsukki?" Yamaguchi's cheerful, sincere words tugged at his attention. "It's tasty." His words were silent but they held all the sincerity he could show, but not all that he felt. Yamaguchi smiled at him all the same. "I know right? I think Sakanoshita Market has the best meat buns around." Tsukkishima smiled back at him. "I guess it does."

Suddenly, Yamaguchi gasped, "Tsukki! You smiled!" He smiled wider still. If Tsukkishima hadn't been more to the stoic side, he would have blushed like a tomato, then and there. Thanks to his on point emotion control he spoke, "I do smile Yamaguchi." Yamaguchi looked downwards. "It's become rare though.... You smile less than you used to." The taller boy considered his words. "I think that's because I don't want my true feeling to be revealed." The shorter guy glanced at his friend. "Why would you hide how you feel?"

Tsukkishima experienced something he rarely ever felt right then. His heart picked up pace. This was his chance. "Because my feeling are reserved for only one person." Yamaguchi looked at him, slightly downcast. "Oh? Who might she be?" Tsukki side smiled. The blond boy chuckled. He lowered his voice to a smiling, smooth whispering tone, "He has the stars embedded on his face. Slightly greenish hair and he's got beautiful wide eyes. He has a heart of gold to match his beauty too... But he's also a dumbass..."

Yamaguchi looked away sadly. "He must be so lucky.... To have your affection." Tsukkishima could see the visible sadness on his face. Doesn't he realise who I'm talking about? .... Dumbass.... This is why I love you so much.. He spoke again, this time a bit louder. "Tadashi." Yamaguchi looked right into Tsukkishima's eyes. "Tsukkishima.... You never call me by that name..." Tsukki continued softly, "Tadashi... Dumbass... Don't you realise?" Hr spoke while looking at his slightly alarmed expression. "It's you. It's always been."

"I really really like you." Tsukkishima wasn't the person to run around in circles, so he didn't. He got straight to the point. But this blunt confession seemed to have sent Yamaguchi into shock. He gasped but he didn't move away from his friend's comforting grip. "Tsukki be serious... It's no time for jokes." "It isn't a joke Yamaguchi." The shorter boy had a shocked expression on his face. "But.... But... You're the Tsukkishima Kei!" "What does that mean?" Yamaguchi took a deep breath, "You are the blocker who could score against Ushiwaka's spike, you're the kid you can excel in college preparatory class without hindering their volleyball career. You're the person who looks out for their teammates without them ever knowing it. You're an amazing person.... You're the Tsukkishima Kei."

All those words and the genuine emotions behind them tugged at Tsukki's normally placid heartstrings. But, his friend still hadn't answered the question. "Tadashi...First off all... You don't give yourself enough credit." Yamaguchi cocked his head sideways, "And second?" "You didn't answer my confession." The green haired boy dipped his head in as if to hide his face. "You weren't joking?" "I- Shut up Yamaguchi I need to drown myself right now-" Before the blond boy could jump off a bridge somewhere, Yamaguchi interrupted him. Still looking away, "Sorry Tsukki... It's just... So..." The little pause injected Tsukkishima with despair. "It's so unreal I feel like I'm floating..."

The shorter boy looked up. A deep red blush caught Tsukkishima's eyes, so did his shy and befuddled expression. Maybe I should give him some time. It's not right for me to drop a bombshell on him. "Okay then, tell me when you're ready." He started preparing to leave. He felt the same sinking feeling he had experienced during his brother's match settle in his stomach. "Tsukki....." He hummed out a response to Yamaguchi, "Hmm?"

64 kilograms of weight barreled into him as he turned towards Yamaguchi. He had barely braced himself as two arms wrapped around his shoulders and gripped him tightly. A radiant smile played on Yamaguchi's lips as his eyes shone.

"I like you too."

You though I was going to complete the story? You thought I was going to write more and put a fluffy scene where they cuddle to sleep at Tsukkishima's home? You thought wrong my dear reader and I apologise for the same.
