Saturday.
Today is Saturday.
The day today is Saturday.
I am so nervous to talk to my father today, but hey, if it doesn't happen now when will it. You know? I have to make like Nike and just do it. Get it?
Things to do today:
Get out of bed check
Cheesy joke check
Have breakfast check
Talk to dad not checkHaving gotten out of bed I did everything on my list, well except the biggest one. After breakfast I gathered enough courage as well as my thoughts and decided looked for dad in his office. No luck.
I first went to the back yard. No luck.
Then I went to the garage. No luck.
Thirdly I decided to go to my parents bed room but no. Still no luck.
I even knocked on the bathroom door and I am glad to say there was nobody there.I was beginning to become panicked as to why he is not here. He is usually up bright and early on a Saturday morning, which I always found odd. I mean who can wake up early knowing well that it is a Saturday, I for one take my time waking up on Saturday. I need my beauty rest.
"Mama, do you know were Tata went? I literally can't find him anywhere."
"Your dad went to Town early this morning Sweetie. Important meeting with the board or whatever they are called."she plainly answered.
My mom had never been involved in my dad and his politics. She would rather mind her children not the problems of a politician. My dad had even convinced her to quit her job before they got married and had us because apparently it 'wasn't a good look' for a minister's wife to be working at a restaurant. So all she does is stay at home and cook, I think. I don't really know what she does all day at home.
Having heard that my dad wasn't coming home till Monday, I knew I now have the whole weekend to chill without having to avoid my dad.
After spending the entire morning watching my most recent kdrama, Discovery of Love. When I tell my friends about these dramas they think its stupid that I am watching something in a completely different language and that it is always Romance. Firstly subtitles exist for that particular reason and second of all those stupid dramas fill the empty void in my heart yearning for love and affection. That sounded desperate but I promise I am not.
My mother comes in my room and she informed me that she is taking my sister to her ballet classes." I'm going to leave R250 on the kitchen counter, go live a little. Don't stay in this house all day long."
I decided I wanted to go on a walk and try out the new food truck that I saw had just been perched a few streets down.
As I was walking I heard footsteps behind me so I moved aside to let the person walk past, but instead they stayed right behind me, which was a bit odd because I could hear they were walking quite fast. I moved to the side again to let the stranger move past, but they stayed behind me. I started getting scared and started jogging slowly and so did the stranger behind me.
At this point I was fearing for my life, the recent killings of girls and women in this country are off the charts and that is a fact that everyone knew about but could not imagine themselves in the same situation.
I don't want to be the new hashtag.
But luckily as I was 'jogging' I noticed a familiar face across the street.
Nathan.
Yes! He was my ticket out of this situation. I started running towards him but he was to busy on his phone to realise that I was running towards him. I don't even know if he is going to help me or not. I really hope that he would help me. He seem like very serious and cold most of the time but I hope he will help me. I'm willing to take the chance though, even if it means being rejected by the now most popular boy at school.
"Babe!"
