✎ᝰ the car ride was silent for the most part, except for the low volumed daniel caesar playing in the background while kairi looked out the car window, hunter's right hand on his thigh making him content.

maybe everything will be alright this time.

"your thighs are getting pudgier kai," hunter stupidly commented, taking his hand from where it was originally place on kairi's left thigh. "i'm not trying to be mean but it's true, you should start working out or something." he finished.

"oh." was all kairi mumbled, not knowing what else to say. i mean what the fuck do you even reply to something like that? kairi moved his legs towards the side, his knees resting on the car door.

"at first it was cute but now i can barely wrap my hand around your thighs." he continued, pointing out one of kairi's biggest insecurities. "i get it hunter." kairi remarked, stopping him from continuing to hurt his feelings.

not a word was spoke the rest of the ride. kairi sat there, silently crying, the tears falling onto his thighs, his "pudgy" thighs.

he was acting like kairi didn't already know his thighs were big. acting like kairi wasn't already trying to do something about them. acting like kairi wasn't starving himself already. acting like kairi didn't look himself in the mirror everyday and just cried over how he looked.

"stop crying before we get out, don't embarrass me." hunter coldly spat, unclicking his seatbelt and got out of the car, still without any remorse of what he had done.

kairi quickly wiped his tears and messily fixed his hair before he got out of the car. hunter purposely walked a couple meters ahead so kairi would have jog to catch up to him. atlast, kairi caught up and wrapped his arm on hunters lower back. together, they walked into some random fellow seniors backyard like nothing had happened.

the toxic cycle was repeating itself again.

surprisingly, the backyard was decorated very beautifully. there was fairy lights everywhere and the bonfire was brightly lit. there was refreshments everywhere, which would make it very hard for kairi to restrict himself.

"hey pretty." alvaro boomed, jogging up to the pair. "hey alv," kairi answered uneasily, he knew alvaro could read him like he was see through. of course, alvaro picked up on what was going on, that asshole had made kairi cry.

"cmon let's go get something to eat. they have a bunch of good snacks." alvaro spilled, grasping kairi's forearm, ready to drag him but couldn't because hunter had pulled him back.

"kairi doesn't need to eat anything else today, look at him." alvaro's blood boiled at what he had just heard. "he's right um, we're just going to watch the fire. i'm good, thank you alv." kairi muttered, embarrassed before hunter pulled them towards the big group before alvaro said something.

by now, kairi was silently crying again. he tried to wipe them off before hunter noticed, too late.

"stop being a fucking attention whore." hunter harshly whispered into his ear.

mattia watched the whole thing from the other side of the fire. he didn't know what was going on but he didn't like it one bit. he didn't know why kairi was crying but regardless, he didn't like seeing that. it wasn't his place to intervene though, and he sadly knew that.

alvaro came rushing to alejandro, whom happened to be sitting next to mattia, about to explode at what had just happened.

"it's happening again ale, he's mentally hurting kairi again." alvaro cried out, scared for his best friend.

"don't know what to tell you, he doesn't want to listen to us and that's on him, he knows what he's putting himself through. come sit." alejandro spurred. yes he was also scared for kairi, but he knew they had tried their best to put a stop to it and failed miserably.

the whole situation wasn't their problem anymore but it was mattia's now, best believe that.
