✎ᝰ "EXPLAIN how what happened last night is okay with you kai?" alvaro asked kairi, who was laying down on his bed, his head on alvaro's lap while alvaro ran his fingers through his hair.
"look i'm not saying it's okay. yes, his words hurt and cut deep sometimes but he says them because he cares about me." kairi sighed, not really wanting to talk about how hunter ridiculed him in front of his best friend and in the car the prior day.
"if he cared, really actually cared, he wouldn't bash you and fill your mind up with insecurities you shouldn't have in the first place." alvaro alerted.
"your body is beautiful kairi. please - please don't listen to him. don't starve yourself because of him. he's so full of shit, you have a fat fucking ass of course you have the thighs to match it. he can fuck out of here with that little boy mindset, this isn't build a bitch." alvaro spurred, making kairi's crying turn into loud genuine laughter. the two laughed non stop for around 4 minutes.
"as much as he hurts me, he's the love of my life. i've tried to move on but i simply can't. everytime he comes back into my life, i feel.. i don't know - complete? i love him alvaro, i love him to the point where it hurts." kairi softly confessed, crying, after the laughter had died down.
alvaro looked down at his best friend and just held him for a bit. he hated seeing kairi like this. hated seeing him fien for someone who didn't fien him the same way he fiend them.
"i'm no expert, but i'm pretty sure the love of your life isn't supposed to make you cry yourself to sleep every night. they're supposed to love you - all of you; make you feel ethereal." alvaro cautiously confessed, not knowing how the boy crying in his arms would react to hearing that: hearing the painful truth.
"i know." kairi said looking up at alvaro who was looking down at him, the saddest smile plastered on his face. he so desperately wanted kairi to be loved they way he loved people. he truly deserved that.
"maybe someone else can give you that, yeah? you deserve to be happy - genuinely happy." alvaro said, subliminally referring to mattia.
"yeah like who?" kairi questioned, starting to get bothered by all the hard truth that was being thrown at him all at once.
"hear me out kai... what about mattia?" he slowly eased his name out into the open, knowing kairi had priorly had his eyes on him. that was, until hunter came back and ruined the slow but evident process.
"i can't deny he certainly isn't bad to look at and as much as it felt good to be seen, what makes you think he could be any different than hunter? he could be worse for all i know." kairi spurred, trying to defend hunters actions like he always did.
"i wish you could see the way he looks at you from someone's else perspective - my perspective. he looks at you like you're the most precious thing in the world. the kid doesn't even know you, never even spoken to you but yet he adores you. he ponders you, ponders your every move, every emotion and movement. his actions speak louder than words, yet you're not hearing them. he's it kairi, he's it." alvaro disclosed, glad he had finally let his thoughts and all his observations out.
kairi's heart fluttered, his stomach blossomed at the thought of anybody, especially someone like mattia, feeling like that towards him.
yet he was so broken to the point he didn't see it, he didn't see all this admiration and pondering alvaro was so elaborately talking about.
he felt like there was no way someone so ethereal, felt that way towards him and that wasn't his fault. it wasn't his fault one bit. he had only ever been shown temporary affection - affection that wasn't even genuine and certainly not the good kind.
"i have to leave babe, but please think about what i just told you. you don't have to settle for less than you deserve." alvaro assured, snapping kairi out of his horrid thoughts.
maybe alvaro was right, maybe he was it.
