CHAPTER TWO
𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐈'𝐒 𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇
april3,2000

"Oh shit." Zazu stared down at the puddle of water that pooled around her feet. Fuck, fuck, fuck. She screamed mentally, panicking because her water had just broke. And early at that.

"Haliki!" She shouted. She grabbed a hold of the kitchen counter and took a deep breath before exhaling. She repeated this two more times before screaming for Haliki again.

"Haliki!" She shouted once more. Her braids fell over her face as she leaned on the counter. Her contractions were killing her and they were so close together, at least five minutes apart.

"Woah, Woah." She looked up once she heard Haliki come into the kitchen. "What you shouting for? I was playing the gam–oh shit, you pissed on yourself?" She rolled her eyes at him before wincing in pain.

"Call your mom and get my hospital bag." She said through gritted teeth and tightened her grip on the counter, her knuckles turning white from the powerful grip she had.

"Oh, OH!" Haliki quickly realized that his niece was coming and immediately did what Zazu asked. Running upstairs into Hasani's room, he grabbed the hospital bag that was sitting right next to the bed.

He ran into his room and grabbed his phone off the bed. He quickly dialed his mothers number as he ran back downstairs to the kitchen where he had left Zazu.

"Why you breathing so hard?" Was Heimi's first question as she answered the call from her second-born.

"Mama, Zazu water just broke and I don't know what to do!" He yelled into the phone as he entered the kitchen.

"Fuck, shit." Heimi cursed into the phone. She wasted no time in grabbing her belongings and leaving the table, confusing her girlfriends who she was having dinner with at the time.

"Get her to the hospital. I'm heading there now. And boy, you better drive like you got some goddamn sense!"

The call disconnected and Haliki pocketed his phone. Putting the hospital bag on his shoulder, he finally made his way over to Zazu and grabbed a hold of her arm.

"C'mon Zu."

"Here." Zazu handed the letter to Heimi. "Give this to Hasani when he comes home."

"What is this?" Heimi asked with a confused expression sitting on her face. She read what was written on the front and her stomach churned, a bad feeling settling in.

"I can't say as of now. But please, make sure he gets that and don't open it before he does." Hami nodded. She placed the letter inside her purse before glancing at Zazu.

Tired. She looked so tired and worn out. Zazu's pregnancy had been a dangerous rollercoaster and most people wouldn't be able to carry a baby almost full-term with Sickle-cell anemia.

The doctor had informed them that her condition would cause complications in her pregnancy but Zazu didn't care. She wanted to have this baby no matter the cost, even if it meant losing her life in the process.

I hope this chapter isn't confusing.
