"EEP! Y/N! COME DOWN!!" Grug yells to us in a panic.

Grug throws a rock which momentarily stuns the creature, allowing Eep and I to jump down and dart into the cave. Grug barely gets the cave closed in time.

Grug sighs.

The Bear Owl pushes his paw through the narrow opening, and feels around for us. The Croods and I are like mice in this world.

"That was too close!" Grug sighs in exasperation.

Eep looks at him annoyed, "I was watching. We were fine."

"What were you two doing up there, Y/n? Eep? Why do our kids need a space to themselves?" The big caveman asks trying to get a straight answer out of them.

I huffed in annoyance, "I don't know, and you're not my dad."

(I know y'all hate this line but it's necessary for the ✨character development✨)

Grug looks down hurt and then looks back up at the two, starting to get annoyed, "What were you looking for?"

Eep groans out, "Nothing."

"Well then why did you go up there?" Grug says almost yelling.

"I don't know." Eep seethes.

"Why don't you know? Stop looking for things. Fear keeps us alive kids. Never not be afraid." Grug calls after them.

Eep and I climb up on a ledge and curl up in the corner together where a tiny spot of light seeps in.

"What's the point of all this?" Eep asks me.

I mummered back, "I don't know Eep."

"Hmmm? What was that?" Grug questions.

"I mean, why are we here? What are we doing this for?" Eep asks lost in thought.

Everyone, except me and Eep, groans.

"No one said survival was fun." Greg responds forcefully.

"Nothing is fun." I breathed out.

"Hmm? Would you come down here. kids?"  Greg asks hopefully.

No answer. Grug climbs up to us but Ugga pulls Grug back down.

"Grug. Off." Ugga demands wanting to give us a little privacy.

"Yes." Grug begrudgingly responds.

Grug climbs back up.

"Off!" Ugga yells once again.

"I just don't see why they need their own ledge. That's all. That's what this is about." Grug pushes.

Ugga once again demands, "Their working through some things and need their own space."

"What things? How long is this going to take? Really? I mean they already don't listen to me." Grug groans.

A pebble hits Grug in the head. It came from Eep's ledge.

"Hey!"

"See? their listening." Ugga smirks.

Grug huffs, "If they want to survive, they have to follow our rules."

Ugga thinks for a moment and turns to Grug, "How about a story? Eep loves those."

Grug brightens.

"That's a good idea ... How about a story, huh?" The big caveman offers.

"Oh yeah, tell us a story." The youngest boy adds in excitement.
