UNDEAD ARISING

Chapter 15 - Name

Despite the lack of sleep due to last night events, the whole squad jogs around the base led by Hanbin. It should've been Aris but was advised to skip the PTE that morning due to his injury which he thought is just a minor bruising. 

Aris does not need to join the exercise every day. The squad does not need to do these exercises every day but their commanding officer does this to keep the energy high and to keep them from being too relaxed. They might be the elite squad but being an elite only puts more pressure on their shoulders.

They need to keep their minds from thinking unnecessary things or else, their minds would become unhealthy and it would affect their job. Exercising may help from keeping them from overthinking. 

Only one person had enough sleep, in his opinion. A few hours of rest is already a luxury of Aris despite still feeling intense pain. He thought it's nothing serious compared to those injuries he acquired before he came to join the military. 

But unlike those people who had injured him before, the injury he had last night was more serious than he thought. It's not inflicted by a regular person unlike in the past, it was rather forced by a mutation of a person who had evolved into a monster. 

As usual, he refused to have himself checked thoroughly so he could go back to work like he always does in the past. He just took the opportunity to skip the PTE to continue sleeping instead of seeing Irene as the general ordered. He had always recovered quickly compared to everyone else and he's expecting his body would do the same, as always. 

Despite the pain, he felt somewhat rested.

After getting ready, he headed immediately to the back of their building where the squad's gym is. Chaeyoung quickly recognized his form entering but did not keep her gaze at him for long, feeling a sudden surge of embarrassment creeping. 

It's not like it's a bad feeling. But this embarrassment made her hands tremble and anxious. 

His company made her feel better. Not that it made her fears disappear but knowing that he's around to protect her made her feel at ease. It's also not like she's depending on him for protection— It's knowing that he will always be with her that's making her feel assured. 

However, the fact that she slept beside him is making her feel flustered. Waking up beside him is making her more embarrassed and the feeling is growing more intense now that he's there...

And he'll be watching her.

When Hanbin noticed Aris' presence, he called the squad's attention and they all quickly line up horizontally in attention facing Aris to which he waved with a gentle nod of his head to put them at ease.

"You okay, cap?" Hanbin asked. 

"Yeah, I'm fine. Have you met our newbies yet? Jaehyun and Ryujin?" The captain asked, standing straight as if he does not feel the slight stinging sensation on his gut. 

Chaeyoung, on the other hand, shyly peek to her right as she was at the very end of the squad's line.

"I haven't, but Joy and Baekhyun delivered their uniforms this morning. I think they'll be here anytime soon. Chaeyoung has already met the rest of the team, by the way." 

"Good." Aris nodded. "Before we start, did anyone of you met an applicant a few days ago who's asking for me? She said was intending to pull out her application to the squad but I never receive any word from any of you. She's claiming she spoke to one of you."

Everyone in line stood silent but looked at each other, looking for someone who will own up to what their captain is talking about. 

The guy standing beside Chaeyoung then raises his right hand before scratch his nape as he lets out a soft sigh, "Yeah, it was me." Jimin spoke out softly.
