UNDEAD ARISING

Chapter 13 - Juggernaut

Aris and Chaeyoung arrived in the said location near the perimeter fence where the rest of the Crimson Squad were. Chaeyoung has not personally met all of them but she knew their faces. 

Joy is up at the tower and radioed everyone as soon as they arrived, "He's back." She said with a terse pause before continuing, "And he's just standing there like a statue." She had the obvious confusion and bewilderment in the tone of her voice which made everyone on the team equally astonished in the most anxious way. 

It's not only the Crimson Squad who were called there. Two other teams arrived at the edge of that perimeter which includes Yoongi's squad. 

"This is actually terrifying. They're suddenly acting like they have intellect, like soldier's waiting for orders." Yoongi says as he approaches Aris. 

"Fuck this shit..." A female, who's also from the Crimson muttered on the radio.

"Captain, if one of us comes back to the quartes smelling like shit, that will be me. Because this is weirding me out on another level and I'm really about to shit my pants. They're so still, like, what are they waiting for? I'm suddenly afraid to move because they're watching me." A male radioed.

It's amusing to Chaeyoung how someone can admit so blatantly that he's afraid, someone with experience in killing these monsters. But she knew it's just a joke to lighten up the tense mood around them because as soon as she switches her night vision on, she saw a hoard standing still a click away from them. 

The night vision system algorithm identified these zombies quickly; 24 Rotters and 1 Anomaly. 

But unlike the last time where Chaeyoung and Aris were unprepared for an Anomaly attack, 3 squads are ready to face them. But despite their number, this behavior of these freaks in front of them is enough to make them anxious. 

"Captain, the class 2 you fought the other day attacked you right away, right?" One of them questioned through the radio.

"Yes," Aris answered. 

It attacked right away without him noticing it charging towards them. However, that's when Chaeyoung's scent wasn't hidden unlike now. 

Aris then turned his head slightly towards Chaeyoung who's standing beside him, "Go join Joy up at the tower. She will tell you what to do."

Chaeyoung wanted to protest strongly, wanting to stay beside him. However, she's in no position to protest. She never had the right to. 

She nodded quickly before turning towards the ladder of the tower, eyeing his form as she ascends up. 

As soon as she was greeted by Joy and three other marksmen, Joy asks, "You can shoot, right? The captain said you can shoot." 

Chaeyoung gave her a nod, "Yes. But I can't say I'm excellent at it." 

"Well, given our situation, you need to perform as excellent as you can." One of the guys interrupted.

Chaeyoung might have topped that archery class but it's only because she's better than everyone else. She only hit the bullseye twice within a year of class. She knew very well the only reason she was ordered to be up there is because of her connection to these monsters that he wants to test—to prove everything they learned from Jin. 

And for another reason that only he feels but couldn't identify.

As soon as he knew she's safe up there, he took the piece of cloth he had asked her earlier that day. Yoongi noticed it and his forehead instantly creases in confusion as this is the first time he saw Aris carrying a hanky.
