2 weeks and 4 days
SHE READ THE calendar that hung on Recovery Girl's wall. In exactly two weeks and four days, she's gone or she's a whole new person. She wondered if the class would find it weird to not have (Name) flirt with Bakugo all the time. To be honest, she didn't want to stop flirting. But he had a girlfriend now, so that would be a shallow move coming from her.
"(Name).. you haven't been to class in almost 4 days, tomorrow is a weekend so.. why don't we go out to the theme park?" A voice startled her as she ripped her gaze from the window to a certain red-head. She sighed in relief to know that it was just Kirishima.
Ever since that painstaking day, Aizawa and Recovery Girl insisted on letting (Name) rest. She was allowed to go to class if she wanted but when she did, she ended up having to rush back to Recovery Girl's office. A simple cough could result to 3 petals in average. Every time she thinks of Bakugo or even that memory of him and Sayuri, it was hell. She couldn't breathe, her mind was blank and she wasn't fighting the pain. Kirishima had to snap her out of it because it looked like she was letting herself be taken away. She stayed in her spot in the nurse's office for days on end. The only people knowing where she was were Aizawa and Kirishima.
Not only was her attitude being affected by this disease, but she looked way worse in physical appearance. Her once muscly arms were now nothing but thin pale (s/c) arms. The eye bags under her eyes were bigger and her eyes got more droopy. Her posture was slouched over and her bedhead never seemed to go away. She always looked pale and thin. Kirishima tried his best to feed and train the girl but she would always give out since her body couldn't take it. She tried, she really did. If this is what it's like to have just over 2 weeks left to live, she wondered how it would be like to only have a week left to live.
"Sorry Kiri, they're actually moving me to the hospital tomorrow so uh.. I can't," She smiled brightly. Kirishima shuddered at his nickname and quickly replaced his furrowed face to a more worried and serious one.
"(Name).. please I can't watch my best friend die slowly like this," Kirishima scooped up her hand lovingly and rested it against his forehead before giving it a light peck.
"Eijirou.." She muttered, tears threatening to burst out of her sockets.
She wanted to cry again to Kirishima, but she thought that Kirishima was struggling too. He was so worried for her and it made her feel guilty. He wasn't able to do any of his work without the thoughts of his friend dying invading his mind. He cried a lot about it. She wasn't the only one scared for her.
Aizawa and Kirishima tried their hardest to convince (Name) to get surgery, but (Name)'s answer stayed anonymous. Recovery Girl gave her pills that numbed her body and emotions so that she couldn't think of Katsuki. It did work but for some reason, (Name) required more doses since the effects wore off quickly that expected.
"They want to see you (Name)," He whispered, his crimson eyes that bore into her skull gravely reminded her of the petals. The same hues and shade, just more..beautiful and peaceful. Eijirou's eyes were somehow comforting to (Name), despite the colour being the same as her blood and the roses. "Mina, Sero, Jirou,Denki..heck even Todoroki asked where you were," He tried his best not to just swear in front of her.
"Huh? Todo-kun? God, I didn't think they'd even think of me like that," She replied softly, her thumb brushing his knuckles gently.
"Don't even say that (Name)," Kirishima glanced at her with his familiar worried orbs. "It hasn't been the same without you! There's no one to make smart remarks when they got told off by Aizawa-sensei, there's no one tickle Denki so much that he short-circuited, there's no one to fluster the heck out of Midoriya and Uraraka every time they got near each other, there's no one to imitate Todoroki's "emo" personality, theres...no one to laugh at when...Bakugo gets pissed when he gets flustered with all of those flirtatious comments," He sobbed.
"F-fuck (Name)," Her eyes widened at her broken down friend in front of her.
She felt stupid about her words earlier. She shouldn't have said that and upset her comforter. But now she had to be there for him. Without hesitation, she sat up from her bed and pulled in Eijirou for a hug. Using a similar gesture, she began to stroke his red spiky hair with care. Her legs dangled off the bed and rested on both sides of Kirishima's chair. His head rested on her chest as he gripped her shirt tightly. He sobbed quietly as (Name) apologised and assured that she was goong to be okay.
"I shouldn't have said that Ei, I'm sorry," She whispered, giving his forehead a light kiss before resting her cheek on his head.
"I just..don't want to lose you.. if I can't save you then how am I going to be hero in the future?" Kirishima looked up at her shining (e/c) hues as she tried to fight her tears back.
"Shh.. You were already a hero when you saved that kid from getting bullied back in your childhood—,"
"But I wasn't strong enough and got myself hurt!" He yelled into her stomach.
"Hey hey, shh.. it's okay Ei, sometimes heroes need a break too. I'll tell you what, how about after I get settled in the hospital.. I'll hang out with you," She said in a cheery tone.
Kirishima simply nodded. She smiled and cupped his soft cheeks with both her hands and squished them. Eijirou hummed and held her hands, attempting to rip them off. But he found her touch very comforting as they slowly strayed away from the subject. She wiped his remaining tears and eventually, He had to go since it was dusk and Mrs. Kirishima texted him saying that his cousins came over and they needed Eijirou to babysit them while his parents, uncles and aunties went out to eat.
Leaving (Name) in the dark room, she began to find herself thinking of Katsuki again. Normally she would let her mind run wild with thoughts and scenarios but she just couldn't handle having to deal with throwing up flowers so she snatched her pills from her table and took a dose. Her mind slowly becoming too lazy to think of anything as she drifted off to sleep, a small tear escaping her eyes in the process.
As Eijirou walked out of the building, he noticed a familiar ash blond leaning against the gates of Yuuei. He would've been confused but stoked to find his friend but with (Name)'s current situation, he didn't know how to act around him. He felt guilty when he acted so friendly and usual around him but he also felt the same way when he tried to ignore the explosive boy. Their red gazes met as Ei could feel his annoyed aura from meters away.
"Bakugo! What are you still doing here?" He asked in his usual cheery tone.
"You went off to see her didn't you?" He avoided his question as both of them began to walk to the direction of their houses.
"Who?"
"Shitty girl you dumbass,"
"Who's shitty girl?"
"(Last Name)!!" He shouted in his normal angry tone. Kirishima frowned at the nickname he gave her.
"Why do you care?" He snapped. Eijirou believed that it was the world's fault for cursing (Name) with such a tragic disease so he didn't blame (Name) or Bakugo for it. But hearing him badmouth his dying friend by the person she loved just set him off. He felt pity for the girl. It was unrequited love and it was unfair. She deserved better. Better than Katsuki.
"Duh! She's my fucking friend and apparently she's not letting anyone visit her except for you," He growled.
Friend..is that all she is to you?
"Oh..okay," He quietly whispered.
"The fuck you mean 'oh okay'? Tell me! How the fuck is she!?" He demanded. Eijirou wanted to laugh at Bakugo's tsundere attitude but he couldn't. He wanted to cry again. Knowing that a close friend of his was on the brink of death because of love just felt so unjust.
"She's getting moved to a proper hospital tomorrow," He bluntly replied, refusing to reveal more information.
As much as he wanted to scream at Bakugo and tell him that she only had less than 3 weeks to live, he wanted to tell him that (Name) loved him and that if he didn't, she's gone, but he couldn't go against her wishes and snitch. Eijirou wanted to tell him that..she might not make it. He brushed away the thoughts of her choosing to die a miserable death. He wanted to convince her as much as possible to get the surgery even if he had to force it or pay for it. (Name) held such an important part of him. He admired her bravery, assertiveness and strength. She had been there for everyone but not a single person stayed after being saved by her except for Eijirou. And he wasn't planning on leaving her..ever.
