Chihayafuru is a Japanese manga series and a 3 season tv show created by Yuki Suetsugu. The story centers around a game called karuta which is a Japanese card game involving the One Hundred Poets. The "Queen's Title" or "becoming Queen" is the highest position for female players. "Master" is the highest position for males.
That being said, I do not own the characters or the premise.
I will say this is absolutely one of my favorite shows EVER!!! I haven't read the manga, but have watched all 3 seasons of the show. So the knowledge by which I write comes from the show.
This short story is an alternative ending to the events at that happened in Season 3 regarding Taichi (I won't spoil for those who haven't see the show, but if you have, you know the heart breaking event I'm talking about).
So...I have never been to Japan (yet...it's one of my dreams!) so I apologize if I misrepresent the setting or culture. My descriptions of Japan will be based on scenes from the show.
