Ch8: Thanks to Taichi

I felt my head swaying with the movements of the train... Taichi sat across from me, staring out the window at the passing greenery and mountains. It had been twenty minutes into our trip, and he barely said a word to me. Was he still upset about our previous conversation? What was he thinking?

I had no clue where he was taking, since he refused to tell me. Typical Taichi. When he had something in his mind, he always stuck to it. If he was determined not to tell me, he wouldn't. And there was nothing I could do to change it.

But.

I could always try.

"Taichi," I said, hoping to force him to look at me.

"Yes?" his head was unmoving.

"Where are-"

"Don't bother asking. I won't tell you."

I sighed heavily.

"You're the worst," I moaned, "leaving me in the dark about everything."

A slow smile appeared, "Everything, huh? I guess that would make me the worst."

On an impulse, I stood from my seat and rushed over to him, sitting on the floor, as I rest my elbows in his lap.

"Why don't you just give me a hint?"

"What are you doing?" He finally looked at me.

"What are you doing?" He finally looked at me

"A hint, Taichi. Just a little one," I gave him my best puppy dog face.

"Go back to your seat. It's not safe for you to be up. Then I'll give you a hint."

I rushed back to my seat and waited eagerly.

He took a breath.

"We are going to three places today. These are all potential career options for you. Some might be far fetched, but with enough effort it should be possible."

My eye twitched.

I'm not sure what I was expecting today to be, but it didn't sound fun. Was I hoping it would be more like...a date? No. Stop it! Why would I even think that? It must be evil Taichi's mom. She had planted those thoughts in my brain. Otherwise, I would never think or want to go on a date...with Taichi.

Besides, this wasn't supposed to be a day of fun. It was supposed to be a day of finding my future so I could make money. A somber wave washed over me. Today was big. I was going learn about my options so I not only would get a good grade on that paper, but also so that I could have a good fate.

The train came to an abrupt stop. I grasped onto the seat to keep myself from falling onto the floor.

"And that's why it's important to stay seated the entire time. You never know when the train will stop," Taichi said, his arms crossed. Why did he always have to find ways to lecture me?
