"𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 you should be handling my hats when they're in danger of getting snot on them?" Kazuya joked, propping his chin in his hand as he watched Eijun open the box flaps.

He glared at Kazuya. "Shut up and just watch. You're the reason why I've put this off for so long, anyway."

"Oh, okay." Kazuya grinned mischievously. "Blame your laziness on the dead guy; I see how it is."

Eijun stopped at his words and that's when it all finally sunk in. He might be able to see Kazuya now, but what would happen if Kazuya disappeared again? He had died ─ that much was evident, but what would Eijun do if the day came where Kazuya would slip through his fingers yet again?

Kazuya tapped his knuckles on the top of Eijun's head, bringing him out of his thoughts. "Don't."

"Don't what?" Eijun swatted at Kazuya's hand, busying himself with digging around in Kazuya's old hats.

"Don't think." Leaning down farther, Kazuya took his Seidou hat and held it in his hands. He turned it over absentmindedly as he sat up. "Your brain cells are already limited as it is. Overthinking this whole death thing would just kill off the rest of them, and that's not fair to your brain cells."

"I thought I told you to be quiet just five minutes ago," Eijun grumbled under his breath.

Kazuya pretended to think for a minute. "You told me to shut up, not be quiet. There's a difference."

"There's no difference at all!" Eijun couldn't help but smile as Kazuya sat on the bed, twirling his hat around his finger leisurely.

"Simpletons these days can never open their minds to new possibilities." Kazuya chuckled to himself, winking.

Eijun simply shook his head, a large smile on his face as he shifted through the fraying hats until he came across a white hat Kazuya used to wear all the time. Kazuya seemed to recognize it as well, for he let out a sound as he went to grab it from Eijun's hands.

"This takes me back," he said, turning it over in his hands.

Eijun leaned forward, resting his forearms against the bed. "Wait, is that..."

"Yeah." Wrapping an arm around Eijun's shoulders, Kazuya brought him closer, kissing the top of his head. "This is the hat I was wearing when I first met the loudest, most annoying pitcher I've ever met."

"I'm going to let that one slide because you're already dead and I can't kill you," Eijun laughed. Reaching for the hat, he grabbed it before turning back to the box on the floor. "Now quit taking your hats. I'm trying to be organized for once."
