The Ministry pamphlets detailing the fifth year students' career choices and the O.W.L's required for them started arriving in big numbers and made the prospect of their upcoming O.W.L's that much more real.

"I believe you're studying hard." said Professor McGonagall as she thumbed through Sirius's school file while she was giving him career advice.

"You know me, Professor." Sirius said, shifting his position to get more comfortable on the straight backed chair in front of McGonagall's desk. "Always studying."

"Hmm." she said and pursed her lips. "Which field do you wish to pursue when you complete your studies at Hogwarts?"

Sirius really hasn't thought much about a future outside Hogwarts but whenever Remus or Blake talked about those kind of things, he thought of being a professional Quidditch player or maybe even open a Muggle tattoo parlor. They just felt like the kind of jobs that had souls to them.

"Umm . . . professional Quidditch player?" he hesitantly answered.

"That's very good, Mr. Black." sighed McGonagall, unimpressed. "But how about we discuss a career I can actually help you get?"

Sirius stared at her blankly.

"How about Auror?" McGonagall prompted, picking a dark green leaflet from the pile on her desk and handing it to Sirius. "That's what a lot of students in your year want to be."

"Yeah. That sounds really great." Sirius said, sticking the leaflet in his back pocket without looking at it. But think about it, he could do with being an Auror. That ought to make his mother finally flip the switch. A member of the Noble house of Black working for the Ministry and as an Auror no less was unheard of.

"Well . . . I should tell you it's not all fun." McGonagall said with her characteristic tight lipped smile. "They ask for a minimum of five N.E.W.T's and nothing under Exceeds Expectations. It will require you to take Advanced Transfigurations and I would let you know that I only take an Exceeds Expectations or higher for my N.E.W.T classes." Professor McGonagall added sternly. "You'll also need to take Potions and Charms. And Defense Against the Dark Arts goes with out saying. But, I must say, your DADA grades are something to be proud of-"

"Do I have to take Divinations?" Sirius interrupted.

McGonagall gave him a small smile. A real one this time. "No. You don't have to."

With the O.W.L's so close, even Care of Magical Creatures which started with simple creatures like Flobberworms (which had to be the most boring creatures to have ever existed and is hard to tell the difference between a live and dead one) and bowtruckles ( mean little buggers that almost scratched Sirius' eyes out), had move to more complex ones like unicorns.

Professor Kettleburn had to be assisted my a woman he introduced as Madam Grubbly-Plank to show his class the unicorn since he couldn't approach it himself without being skewered.

The unicorn, nibbling daintily at the grass, stood gracefully inside the grassy enclosure Hagrid made for it a few meters away from own his cabin. Hagrid himself was standing close by and observing the class with something like longing.

The girls were allowed to gather around the unicorn and take turns petting it while the boys were told to stay outside the fence and watch from afar.

Remus was leaning on the fence, trying to get a good look at the silvery beast, he almost looked like Sirius and James trying to see the first Hogwarts Quidditch game they witnessed.
