It's been two weeks since the Flying Lesson incident and Sirius and James hadn't stopped throwing jinxes at Rabastan and the Carrows whenever they ran into each other in the corridors, mostly because they were given only lines while James and Sirius had to polish half the trophies the school owned. They jinxed Snape too, while on the subject, which might have earned them two or three more detentions.

Peter thought they were absolutely brilliant but Remus gave them disapproving looks all the time though he doesn't say a word or tell them to stop. But when it came to taking sides he always backed them up.

For today's Transfigurations class the students each had a Granny Smith apple delt to them so they can change the color.

"Work with your wrists." instructed Professor McGonagall from the front of the class. "Don't move your fingers. Just a smooth little wrist movement is enough. Then tap your apple with your wands and say Colovaria."

Remus got the hang of it fairly quickly. His apple now looked like it was made of chocolate. Lily has gotten so far as making patterns and her apple looked more like an ester egg. And Blake and Alice were making theirs change colors every few seconds and laughing.

But Marlene was frowning as she poked her apple with her wand which was making it go slightly transparent.

Sirius and James weren't having much luck either.

"I think it's a different shade of green now though, don't you agree?" asked James, giving his apple another hesitant poke.

"You're not saying it right." said Remus, turning his attention to James and Sirius. "You're supposed to say Colovaria and not whatever it is you were saying. Also you're supposed to move only your wrist not your whole arm. You'll just end up taking someone's eyes out if you keep doing it like that."

"Show off." muttered James.

Remus helped them right their style and soon enough James and Sirius caught up with most of the class. But Peter couldn't do it and was told to practice the spell as extra homework.

"Don't worry, Peter." said Remus, resting a hand on his shoulder. "I'll help you."

The boys gathered their things and jostled their way out of class in a hurry to get to the enchanting smell coming from the Great Hall.

Remus and Peter were a little way away and Sirius was about to make a beeline for them when James grabbed his wrist and dragged him the other way.

"Where are you taking me?" Sirius asked as he wretched his hand from James's grasp.

"I need your help with something." James said as he marched Sirius over to where Lily was talking to Blake, Alice and Marlene.

Blake and Lily separated from the rest and walked in the direction of the stairs that would take them to Gryffindor Tower. Lily's smile turned to a frown when she saw James walking towards her.

"Evans." beamed James and grinned at her.

"What do you want, Potter?" she huffed.

"It's not what I want, Evans." he said. "I have been looking for your friend Miss Ross."

"You have?" asked Blake, looking very perplexed.

"Yes. Sirius here has been wanting to talk to you." he said and pushed Sirius forward.

"I have?" Sirius started to say but James stepped on his foot to shut him up.

"What do you say we give them a little privacy, Evans." said James and dragged Lily away. She looked back at Blake and shrugged.

Awkward silence.

"I really have no clue what that was all about. I'm sorry." Sirius said. When the silence stretched on longer, he added, "Hi. I'm Sirius Black by the way." In his defense, Sirius wasn't very good with the ladies back then.

"I know . . . I actually want to say thank you for . . . you know. What happened during the flying lessons." Blake blurted out.

"I . . . I really didn't do anything. You don't have to thank me." Sirius said, scratching the back of his neck.

"I know." she said, fingering the ends of her curly brown locks. "I just want to. It's Blake Ross, in case you were wondering."

"Nice to officially meet you. James and Evans look a little busy." Sirius said with a smile, glancing back at them. "Want to walk to the Great Hall with me?"

"I'd love to."

Sirius left James to his victim and followed the last of the students to lunch. Blake and him made polite small talk on their way.

"Guess I'll see you around then." said Blake and joined Marlene and Alice at the long table and Sirius left her to look for Remus and Peter.

"Where's James?" asked Remus when Sirius sat down next to him.

"Harassing Evans." Sirius replied before stuffing his  mouth with a spoon full of mashed potatoes and ketchup and renderings himself incapable of speech. "What are you doing anyway?"

"Just thought I'd do an extra credit essay for Professor McGonagall." replied Remus. "To make up for the classes I missed."

Sirius rolled his eyes but didn't say anything.

Few minutes later, James slid onto the bench next to Peter and glared at Sirius. "You left without me."

"Hey. You are in no position to be mad at me." Sirius said after swallowing with some difficulty. "That was the awkwardest conversation I've ever had."

"Yeah. Whatever." he interrupted. "But can you believe Evans? She's still moping about that Jelly Legs Jinx me and Sirius put on Snivellus."

"Well, he is her friend." said Remus, looking up from Transfiguration Today.

"Who's side are you on?" fumed James.

"The truth." murmured Remus and went back to his book.

"Slimy git." grumbled James with a glance at the Slytherin table and Sirius agreed silently. Then he turned back to Remus and gave his parchment a glance. "What are you doing anyway?"

"I would tell you but it would be a completely foreign concept to you." said Remus without looking up.

James shrugged and grabbed a plate.
