Soldier Collapses

There are things that happen in our lives that leave us with more questions than answers. As I had indicated earlier, Milka had confirmed she was not happy in her marriage. She got married to an elderly man because of money. As I later learnt, the man was also a X KDF soldier. Let's proceed with our story

'Mekuuliza ako wapi huyo mwanamme'(Where is he?) as the man bent to look under the bed, our eyes met. In shock the old man collapsed and fell right in front of my eyes. That night remains one of the worst nights in my life. I can confess had Milka not begged me to sleep with her, I could not have had such an experience. Remember, I am a man and Milka is a woman. We have feelings and being in the same house at the wee hours of the night could lead to anything, including an awesome love experience. I am also a church member and the good book says ask and you will be given.

That night we had planned to exploit ourselves but things turned tragic. That night Milka had promised to share her love like she had never done. It was about eleven forty in the night when Milka's husband came in and collapsed right in front of me. Milka was in shock, I was in shock too.'What do we do?' Milka asked. 'Let me ask for an uber, we need to rush him to hospital' I said dashing to the sitting room to pick my trouser. When I came back to the bedroom, I met Milkagiving her husband chest thrusts to regain his breath.

'Wacha tumwombe madam Rita ile gari yake' (Lets request Rita for her car) Milka said amid while panting. I did not want to involve Rita in this mess. Rita had already started hating on me and secondly I did not want her to know I was in Milka's house when the incidence happened. I tried to avoid that request but Milka went ahead and called her. Rita did not pick at first. On a third subsequent call she picked.

When Rita arrived she got the door was locked. When I opened,'Ni nini imefanyika?'(What happened?) Rita asked as she jumped into the house. 'Hata me ndo nimeingia naskia mzee ame collapse'(I have just entered, her husband just collapsed) I lied. I did not want Rita to know I was there when the incident happened.

'Kwani uliingia na kujifungia?' (How come you were locked inside) Rita joked as she started calling Milka. 'Milka! Milka!' Rita called Milka with a strong Kikuyu ascent as she went to their bedroom where she responded from. I followed her in. 'Ni nini imefanyika?' (What happened?) She asked. 'Ameingia tu na aka collapse'(He came in and collapsed) Milka said amid sobs. We rushed Mzee to the black harrier of Madam Rita. I drove it at high speed to Mama Lucy hospital.

We got to the hospital in less than five minutes. At the nurses desk, lots of laughs filled the air even though the sign on the wall read, 'SILENCE PLEASE' Nurses tried to be helpful by rushing around in a manner likely to suggest they were looking for the stretchers. Very many minutes' later, two lady nurses appeared with a stretcher and we rushed to pick mzee.

When we got to the car, foam had started spilling from his mouth and he was having difficulties breathing properly. We rushed him through the corridors and when we got to a door, the  nurses requested us to wait. We sat at the bench at the reception and waited.

We sat there watching the TV that was hanged on the wall. 'Chuma ya doshi, chuma ya nguvu advet ran again' Milka looked at me but I pretended and did not look her way. I knew mimi si chuma mbaya. Chuma lazima ikue imefika gauge, the man on the advert ended. After that then came another advert  'I told you to kick it more to the left, kick it harder' advert by 1Xbet. I knew hii TV hainitakii. I rose and proceeded to the water dispenser to drink water.

We sat there till 1 am and no one came to see us. At about 0200hrs a nurse came from behind the curtains and requested to see me. 'Is this your father?' Nurse Mercy asked. For those asking how I knew she was mercy, I read it on the badge. 'No he is a husband to that lady, the one seated on the left edge' I answered.
