The Student
After the intriguing confession by Matilda, I felt very weak in my knees. I also got confused. Was
Matilda planning to have me as her second husband? I asked myself. I walked out quickly and went
to my car. I drove away immediately.
After about an hour of waiting, Aggy and her Aunt Florence came out. I drove them home. I left
them at Rita's house and went to my room to rest. I returned my door, removed my shirt and threw
myself on the bed. I did not stay for long before sleep took me.
When I woke up I got Monicah sitted besides my bed, 'Monicah why are you here?' I asked her. 'I
have brought your phone' she answered handing me the phone. 'Thank you, you can take your leave
now' I responded. 'Do you mind helping me in Biology?' she asked. 'I am tired right now, let's do that
tomorrow' I answered and she left.
The next morning, I received a call from Rita. 'Dad, watoto wako wananisumbua' she stated.
'Wameshinda wamenipiga mateke usiku wote, watakua wajeuri Kama baba yao' she continued.
Wajeuri!! Baba yao!! I did not understand what my wife meant by referring them as wajeuri. I have
heard so many myths about pregnancies and psychosis but the case of ujeuri was a bit odd for me.
As we were speaking I heard Monicah calling at my door.
That day was busy for me. I was required to drop Aunt Florence to hospital, Aggy had also requested
me to drop her in school and Monicah wanted me to help her with Biology. Monicah had come
calling to remind me I was getting late. I hurriedly showered and left without reading my Bible or
praying
'Mbona jana hukukuja kukula' Aggy asked with a lot of concern when I entered. I answered. After
breakfast Aggy, Florence and I left. As we were going down the staircase, 'Najua jana ulikula
Monicah' Aggy whispered in my ear. That statement almost knocked me out. 'kwa nini unasema
hivo' I asked her. 'Jana Monicah ameniambia anakuletea simu then akakaa kwako over one hour na
mlango mlikua mmefunga, unataka kusema mlikua mnafanya nini? She asked.
'No jana hata nimeshinda nimetuna, akaniletea simu na akarudi' I answered honestly. She laughed
brushing off my answer.
We first dropped Aunt Florence in hospital and then we left to drop Aggy in school. That day they
had a staff meeting in preparation for the second bit of the term.
As we took our seats, Aggy stretched and kissed me. I did not expect that from her. 'Conrad, I love
you' she stated looking at me with very sexy eyes. I did not say a thing. 'Ukiona nakuuliza kama
ulifuck Monicah ni vile naskia vibaya aki kuku share' she stated. From her conversation she sounded
like one who has taken over Rita's position and responsibilities.
