The Chief General Commander

'Nimeskia story nyingi juu ya wakisii ni leo nimeamini. Wewe ni simba' Matilda

complemented me. The first time I heard a woman call me a lion. I confirmed I am the chief general

commander, nikikohoa wanaitika. Matilda rose, wore a leso and left to prepare breakfast. Since I

was tired after the night's activities, I decided to rest. Minutes later she came with breakfast. We

enjoyed our breakfast in bed. We fed each other with laughs and kisses.

'Conrad, I don't how to express this feelings. I am in love with you already.'Matilda told me point

blank. She was honest from the look on her face. I honestly love Rita and I knew I can't let her go for

Matilda. I was left confused. I can't leave Rita for you miss, I told myself from within

Before I could leave Matilda asked me, 'Do you mind coming over next weekend? I will be travelling.

I want us to travel together'. 'Sorry Madam, I won't make it. I will be going to the village on

Wednesday' I lied. 'Where is your home?' She asked. 'A few metres past Suneka off Kisii Migori road'

I answered. 'Whao that's the same route I use when I go home. What if u leave on Thursday, I can

request for an early off we travel together' she convinced me.

I was thinking of the best excuse when her phone started ringing. When she hanged up. 'Conrad, I

have an urgent visitor in my office. Kindly make yourself comfortable I will be back shortly' I knew

this was a trap to retain me in her house. 'No madam, I have to go now'. We left and proceeded to

the office. At the report office she asked the police lady to hand me my phone. Hope you remember

when I was released I left with only shoes.

We proceeded to her office, she requested the visitors to give her a minute. We had a small chat and

I stood ready to leave. When I stood, 'Wait a moment Darlin' Madam Matilda requested. She drew

her locker and gave me 10000(Yes, ten thousand shillings). 'Use that as u fare home' she hugged and

kissed me and I left.

As I walked out to Mpaka road, I felt guilty. Deep down in my heart I knew I have hurt Rita, mother

to my unborn baby. I made my mind to go back to her, just like the prodigal son, and ask for her

forgiveness. I knew I had back slid. I made my mind to kill the fisi in me. I took a matatu at westlands

to town

As I was manoeuvring my way in town, I decided to call Rita to inform her what had happened.

When I removed my phone to dial. I got I had carried Matildas phone and she had remained with

mine. I knew Matilda must have done this intentionally. I decided to call my number so that I can

inform Matilda she had remained with my phone. When I dialled my number on her phone nilipigwa

na butwaa. Matilda had saved me Beb. How soon? I dialed it anyway

When she picked,'Beb mambo? Nimekumiss aki' she started. 'kamia simu nko kwa nyumba'. 'Nko

salama Madam, nilisahau simu yangu hapo?' I asked. 'You do not have to call me Madam' she
