Annabelle's pov:
The last three days have been pretty exhausting with all the training they made me do. They however only mean to teach me everything so I will be able to protect myself the best way possible.
„Are you sure you are doing to be fine on your own?" Luke questions me for the fifth time this morning. He was pretty worried since it's the first day I am going to be alone because he needs to go back to work. Raphael also needed to meet up with some of his followers and Magnus said something about high warlock of Brooklyn stuff. So I decided to act all grown up, I mean I after all am eighteen now, and tell them to do their stuff while I head out to the library. I after all need some more books to read more about all this things they have been talking about. It does feel weird to go someplace where only people from this new world are allowed to. It is however time for me to get used to it. After all I now am a part of this world myself.
„Ok. But please be careful and if anything happens just remember to grab your necklace and think of somewhere safe. Preferably home or to magnus place, and than you call me right away!" Luke instructs me and pulls me into a tight hug. Sighing softly before inhaling his soothing smell deep within me. Somehow he always had this soothing and calming atmosphere around him.
„Don't worry dad. I promise to be careful and that I will call you if anything happens!" I promise him, knowing he need to hear it. Otherwise he definitely wouldn't leave me alone for sure!
„Ok! I should go now or I am going to be late for work. Stay safe Anni, I don't know what I am going to do if something happens to you!" dad states still sounding rather worried for my safety. With a smile on my face I quickly kiss his cheek in hope to sooth him just like he has done to me.
„Don't worry dad, I won't let anyone or anything get me away from you!" I promise him strongly. His chuckle makes me smile happy that I indeed was able to calm him a bit.
„Thats my girl!" he states proudly before he kisses my forehead and leaves with a reminder to call him right away if something might happen. Deciding that now is an as good as a time as later on, I grab my backpack and head outside to go to the library. However only after making sure that I was wearing the necklace Luke had gifted to me on the first day he got me out of the children's home. I never knew that it was a magic necklace until Raphael explained to me what to do back at the night club. Till than i only treasured it because it was the first ever thing I got gifted after my mother's death. It also looks really pretty! When I get out of the subway at the right station I start to notice some other people with runes on them. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to come here on my own. Shaking my head at my own bad thoughts and instead decide on completely ignore them all together. Dad said they are used that no human can see them, so if I act all human like I sure as hell should be safe! At least I do try to tell that to myself to stay as calm as momentarily possible. To my luck I didn't take me that much longer until I found the library. It's kind of strange how incredible it looks when I until now only saw that run down store where no one ever went into. What turning eighteen and getting magic powers change!
„Can I help you young lady?" a very pale looking man asks me while eyeing me hungrily. My guess is that he is a vampire manly because of his white complexion.
„That would be really nice. I am looking for that book here." I say and show the name of the book towards him. At first he eyes me up very skeptical but than he suddenly looks at me with slight panic as if suddenly afraid of me. But why?
„Are you Alright?" i ask him softly since he really starts to worry me.
„Are you Annabelle?" he asks me slowly relaxing after he saw me worrying for him. Still I find it pretty strange why he knows my name. My face sure as hell also shows how much this small information worry's me. Is he one of those I should be careful around?
„Raphael has called me to tell me his best friend is coming over. It's nice to meet you." he softly says and even smiles a little what makes him seem way younger and definitely friendlier.
„Ok, that explains it i Guess. Could you please show me now where I can find that book? I really need to study it." I answer him feeling slightly safer around him now. Still I can't be too sure if he truly knows Raphael or if he only says it to get near me? Who knows. As soon as he has given me the book he left back to his work desk. Before he did so he quickly told me to come to him if I need anything else or if I need help with anything. Which i do think pretty sweet of him. Still, firstly I need to text Raphael if his story is true or not. After receiving his answer like a second after I texted him I felt like a stone fell off of my shoulders in relieve that he really instruct an old friend to keep his eyes on me while they are out doing their business. I do find it incredibly thoughtful of him that he asked a friend to watch me. This means I mean as much to him as he means to me. Ever since we met we hit it off pretty quickly. We do have the same humor and he always acted like an older protective brother which I absolutely love! Since that all is now cleared up, I finally start to study the book dad, Magnus and Raphael told me about.
Guess I have completely lost track of the time since a soft tap on my shoulder makes me screech out in fear only to see the man from earlier smiling at me. Sighing in relief, that it was only him and not someone else.
„Sorry to disturb you but we are about to close. If you want to you can take the book along with you, just make sure to bring it back." he informs me and offers with a small wink. Smiling brightly at him for that! Honestly not really feeling safe around here so it will be great to instead study this book some more at home where I won't have to worry about someone finding me or trying to hurt me.
„That's amazing! Thank you!" I thank him and even hug him in my immens relief and joy. At first he stiffens up at that but only a few seconds later he hugs me back.
„Of Course. Get back home safely." he says after we have pulled away from one another. Me now blushing slightly embarrassed of my show of affection even though we don't even know each other.
„I will. And thanks again." I say and carefully pack the book into my backpack. When I step out of the library it has already started to get a bit darker. So with quick strides I make my way towards the subway yet again. In my hast though I wasn't paying as much attention as I should of because I ran straight into someone else. And if that wasn't already bad enough, that someone was the dark haired one from the club. Fuck! Why do I never have luck!
„You!" he says seemingly as surprised as I am. He however is way calmer than I feel at the moment. Instinctively I grab for my necklace only to come back empty handed. Where is my necklace. The panic slowly gets more and more. Slowly even making my breathing irregular which usually means I am seconds away from a panic attack.
„Hey, it's ok! I won't hurt you." the boy soothingly says and takes a step closer to me which makes me panic even more.
„No touching! No touching!" I mumble out and slowly start to see black spots appearing.
„I won't touch you! Just please try to concentrate on your breathing and I call Raphael!" he promises and something in his eyes makes me believe him. Still I feel rather weak and unsafe here.
„Raphael! You need to come to the subway near the library! Your girlfriend or whatever she is just. Hello?" I hear him talking quickly I to the phone.
„He cut off the call! Asshole!" he mutters under his breath but after seeing my frantic look he slowly takes a seat close by my side. To my luck though he doesn't touch me, which is a win in my books.
„What have you done!?" Raphael asks him quit furious as he softly picks me up in his arms. My fingers right away curl themselves into his shirt in fright he might sits me down otherwise.
„Shh, you are safe! I got you!" he soothingly whispers in my ear.
„Lightwood i don't ask again!" he questions the boy yet again. Sounding like he only is seconds away from killing him even though he sounded completely calm as he talked with me.
„We ran i to each other. As I finally realized who she is she was already panicking. She was grasping for her necklace but it has fallen off of her when we crashed into one another. I tried to sooth her but since she only seemed to panic more i called you!" the boy honestly explains to Raphael what had happened.
„Thank you! For calling." Raphael sighed out after a few seconds of silence.
„And thank you for the necklace! It means a lot to her!" he says and than it suddenly got really quiet around me. When I lift my head up I see that we now are at my home again. Raphael must of run all the way back to here.
„Are you alright Anni?" he asks softly and lays me down on the couch. Since I still am not able to form words I only nod at him in reply.
„I am going to call Luke. Relax, I only am going to inform him and tell him that you are back at home and safe. If i won't do that he is going to kill me." he says in explanation. Well, he is right with that I guess. Feeling suddenly completely drained from this day and also from the last few days I decided to close my eyes. Only for a little though.
