I Come Like Rain

ONE LAST NIGHT

      -I hate letting people into my life         because they always leave and never look back-

First and foremost my name is Rain, yeah like water yeah Rain but here is the kick I don't have a surname crazy huh but yeah shit I say yeah alot okay okay.... Oh and I'm 19.

I am pretty sure you are wondering how I have no surname,well I grew up in an orphanage untill I was put out a year ago, they found me on a sidewalk crazy I know but they said I was just seated there like I was waiting, what I was waiting for no-one knows not even me. I wasn't adopted if that's what you are wondering so I had to put on my big girl pants on and look for a job,a place to sleep and food to feed my belly and I did just that it's not a grand apartment or job just enough for me.

The lady I work for is an amazing beautiful soul I just love her, though she doesn't know that because I have never told her but I think she knows, she pays good and helped me look for an apartment. She owns 20 stores, the one I work at is a stationary store and it's been in her family for years . She has a brother a year younger than her, he manages the other stores too.

Throughout my high school years I was a loner, bullied to no end trust me I tried making friends but who wants to be friends with an orphan black girl with some weird ass eye colour I mean even I don't know why a black girl would have greenish blue eyes I mean what the actual fuck but that's not the point no-one not even the teachers wanted anything to do with me. In my country such things like my eye colour is looked down on some type of traditional abomination, I don't get it either trust me but anyway I completed my grade 12 with great points 7 to be exact , I took a gap year to raise money for college or university.

Mrs Hamooya helped me with alot, I did start small from floors to bathrooms to cash register then manager it feels good telling others what to do. But sadly today is my last day as a manager and boy am I happy infact delighted because I'm finally going to university in Italy  I know I'm pretty chill about it, well because I have no one to brag to to be honest I'm so excited but most of all I'm thankful to Mrs Hamooya for helping me with the money she's sponsoring me for the first year then all my savings are gonna help from there and I'm going to look for work.

"Hey Rain, your last and official shift is ending in 15 minutes wanna go out with the other guys, for your last day?" Tracy one of the workers here asked.

"I was just gonna stay in toda-"

"Oh come on that's all you've done for a year and whatever months always blowing us off, you're living soon and we won't see you till I don't know a hundred years." Earning a laugh from the others "Please Rain one last night with your unit." she did with thing with her eyes where she squinted and brought her hands in a prayer form.

"Okay fine, I'll come." I agreed silently regretting my decision.

"And Michael is coming too you guys can finally get to know each other." Tracy grinned showing her Colgate smile

"We talk Tracy, why do you have to make a fuss out of it" I said slowly getting annoyed but she can't see that and I forgot to mention I wear contacts now from the day I started work here so no-one knows what colour my eyes are.

"He always looks at you and you never pay attention always working or running out of here, this is the first time we've talked like this you know." She said looking somewhat sad which I have no idea for I mean why is she sad if she wanted to be friends why didn't she say something.

"Well it's life maybe it's fate." I shrugged not knowing what to say next so I walked away but turned just in time to catch a glimpse of her shaking her head and walking towards her bestfriend Natasha.

The way she looked just doesn't make sense to me, all her friends always made fun of me calling me an ass kisser or a smartass or some other offensive words I wouldn't want to think about.

I don't get why she wants to be buddy buddy now, Michael would just check in and check out just come in work and leave that's all I don't know why she said he looks at me when I look at all of them, not in a creepy way just over looking their work is all so I never saw shit .

"Umh Rain we are gonna be at Chicagos yeah, we can pick you up if you like." Tracy said walking into my office yes MY office, with Natasha right behind her on her phone.

"No its okay just tell me what time I should be there." I tried to smile but it kinda came out like a grimace.

"Okay cool is  8:30 okay? we are gonna grab some food at the mall then hit the club so we can meet at East Park mall , is that okay?" She said not quite sure of herself.

"Yeah okay sure." making sure I sounded excited.

"Okay cool " she smiled brightly showing all her straight teeth . She must have picked up the excitement when I feel the complete opposite.
She grabbed her friend and rushed out, probably to tell the others.

This is gonna be one hell of a night...
I just hope it goes well
