Chapter 14: Damage Control/Date Night

A/N: Excuse the double-titled chapter. I have my reasons. :)

*Nearly three hours later*

Y/N's POV

I wake up and realize that I'm not alone. I slightly raise up, only to see Zuko peacefully sleeping under me...Awwwww... Now this, this, is something I can get used to. He looks so cute! What could he be dreaming about with a smile like that? After a few seconds, he spoke up, with his eyes still closed.

"Are you done staring?" Shit! He was up the whole time?! 

"I-I just woke up! How did you even see me?!"

"I didn't. I just knew. And relax, I'm only messing with you."

"Yeah, yeah." So, I ended up trying to hide my shame by lying back on his chest. Now I look like an "I enjoy watching you sleep" kind of person, my gosh.

"You know you snore, right?"Wow, Zuko. Thank you so much for saying that.

"Charming, aren't you?" I felt the rise and fall of his chest as he let out a light laugh. Then, I sat up and looked at him.

"You know, I wouldn't mind waking up to you on top of me like that everyday."

"Zuko! Shh, that sounds so perverted!"

"Interpret it as you will."

"Haha, you're gross."

I got up off him and stood up to stretch, mainly to avoid any more awkwardness. He sat up and did the same. I walked up to the window and noticed it had finally stopped raining. "Ah, it's sunny again."

"Bummer. It was nice being here with you while it stormed."

"Yeah...it was nice. Anyway, it's a bit late, so I should be getting back now."

"Understandable. Do you need me to walk you?"

"I would, but I really need to talk to Katara. We can't just have a cold war forever."

"True. I'll see you tomorrow, alright? And good luck!"

"Okay, and thanks!" Then, he got up, gave me a hug, and kissed me before letting me go, which took me by surprise even though we're a couple now...

~~Meanwhile~~

Katara's POV

So, there I was--lying on my bed frowning. I know, I know, it's been a whole day. I'm being unreasonable, but I care too much about Y/N to let her get hurt by someone like Zuko--or anyone for that matter! I just don't trust him, but I really really want Y/N to be happy. Why would she choose Zuko, though? There's tons of other people that haven't tried to kill us that would love to go out with her! 

Still, maybe I should've tried to see things from her perspective. Okay, Katara, picture yourself as Y/N. You apparently have feelings...for Zuko?! Nope, nope, I can't do it. I just can't. Love really is blind, I guess. Was I too harsh to her? Maybe I was...I'd be mad at me too, but the damage is done. Y/N and I need to move past this. We can't be upset forever...

Y/N's POV

I made it to the palace entrance, and the guards opened the doors for me. I walked down the long hallway and eventually made it to Katara's room. I debated on knocking. Will she answer me? Will we continue ignoring each other? I should just walk away now and go to bed. No! I need to do this. We need to do this. Okay, okay. Here goes.

Knock, knock.

"Who is it?"

"It's me. Katara, can I come in?" There was an audible sigh before the door slowly opened. Katara walked back to her bed and sat down. I sat on the other side.
