Basil and the Slumbering Emerald

A New Tattoo

Basil took the time while driving to meet Mattias to soothe his aching heart. He knew he was striking a nerve with Kelkian every time he picked someone else. He didn't mean for it to be this way, for his heart to be so untamed but it was a part of him that Kelkian would have to accept. However, he could see how he didn't handle this the greatest. He could have told Kelkian about the meeting beforehand so that it didn't come as a surprise, but regardless it would have upset his lover.

Taking a deep sigh a pushing it from his mind Basil gets out at the nicer coffee shop than he usually goes to and spots Mattias waiting with two cups of coffee, one of them dwarfed by his large bear paw like hands. Basil sits across from Mattias and smiles charmingly. "I'm glad you could make it. I suppose I should be forward and upfront about this so we can get the awkward issue out of the way. That issue being the fact that I have two boyfriends... or more accurately a boyfriend and a fiancé. I just need to know if this is a date or not. My fiancé was a little peeved that I asked you out here. So I just wanted things to be clear." Basil says picking up his coffee and taking a sip. It's pleasant, not overly sweet or overly creamed. It's almost black with a touch of both.

"Oh" Mattias chuckles grinning as he sips his coffee. "This could be a date if you want it to be handsome." Mattias winks playfully, a slight teasing air about him. "I don't mind that you are polyamorous Basil. I find it fascinating actually. I haven't met anyone quite like you before. There's something about you I can't quite put my finger on. Anyway, I'm sorry if I caused any friction between you and your fiancé.That was never my intentions." Mattias says sweetly and Basil gives him a reassuring smile.

"My fiancé is the jealous type. I think he feels neglected with how much time I spend with my boyfriend." Basil sighs guiltily. "It's hard to balance the two because they fight over me so much. It's all one big competition to them and I just need someone who isn't like that. I need someone much more chill." He shakes his head. "We didn't meet up to talk about my relationships. Sorry." Mattias takes his hands into his own, they are coarse, firm, and warm.

"No, this is fine Basil. I want to get to know you more. Feel free to vent to me about your relationships. I'm here to listen. How else will I get to know you?" He smiles with all the warmth of the sun. Basil can't help feel butterflies all over again gripping his hands tightly.

"Alright. Well my boyfriend is Gram and my fiancé is named Kelkian. Gram is less clingy but is very much a sweetheart in his own way. Kelkian is clingy but in a good way. I never feel like I have to doubt his loyalty. He loves me with all his heart and I feel that. I'm not sure Gram has such devotion to me.

"Kelkian Cobrahn?" Mattias asks raising a surprised eyebrow at him. "Are you by chance... an unbound?" Mattias whispers the last part cautiously. Basil nods and smiles.

"Yep, I'm not eighteen yet though, it's less than a couple weeks away. Why, do you know Kelkian?" Basil seems intrigued.

"Only by reputation. I knew he had an arrangement, he always gushed about it like he had some handsome prince charming. I can see why he was so enamored now." Mattias flirts and Basil blushes at the compliment. "Does Kelkian know it's me you are on a date with?"

"No. He seemed uncomfortable with the possibility of a third lover in the mix. He thinks I don't love him. I mean I haven't said the exact words "I love you" yet but I call him love all the time now. I figured that would be enough. I guess not. He is a very sensitive guy and I feel like Gram only sees him at his worst. He can be a real love bug at night. He makes me feel loved and safe." Basil shakes his head sighing. "I guess I've been taking that for granted..." Mattias nods listening intently, much the way Petril does.

"Well at least I don't have to hide my magic from you handsome. Is the coffee to your liking?" Mattias changes the subject to lift Basil's mood.

"It's great thanks. I've never been here before. So you said you do tattoos and piercings right? Could you pierce my ears?" Basil asks and Mattias laughs deep in his belly.

"Ears are easy. Come on we can do it now." Mattias gets up and leads Basil out and down the street to a new tattoo and piercing shop freshly set up. Mattias walks in and leads him to the back coffees in hand still. Basil sits where instructed. "Hoops or studs?"

"Studs." Basil replies and Mattias puts on black gloves and gets his piercing needles out as well as some expensive looking silver and emerald green studs. Mattias works his magic and before long Basil's ears are pierced. Basil pauses looking at his reflection with a smile before looking at Mattias. "How about a tattoo? I'm paying for both of these so don't even try to stop me." Basil chuckles and Mattias shrugs.

"Alright, what kind of tattoo?" He waggles his brows playfully making Basil laugh.

"Nothing like that. I was actually thinking of getting a tattoo for Kelkian. What do you think?" Basil looks in the mirror imagining possible tattoos. Mattias thinks before smiling.

"How about I give you a magical tattoo for Kelkian? How about a Cobra around one of your fingers with the letters of his name in the scales? Simple, small and elegant. Like you." Mattias chuckles as Basil flushes.

"I am not small..." He protests and Mattias laughs louder.

"Basil, everyone is small compared to me." Mattias grins and Basil smirks tilting his head suggestively.

"Is that so?" Now Mattias goes red in the face.

"Not what I meant. Anyway, back to the tattoo. Want to get it done now? I have the free time and it shouldn't be too hard. " Basil agrees and they set about getting the tattoo. It takes over an hour as the ink has to be imbued with raw magic. It makes the snake slither around his finger on command. When it's done Basil's finger is red and puffy but the tattoo looks excellent. Basil kisses Mattias, catching him by surprise.

"Thank you Matty. It has been fun but I gotta get home. Text me alright?!" Basil pulls out his bank card, pays for the tattoo and piercing at a discount and heads back to his car.

When he gets home he searches the house for Kelkian, finding him in Basil's bedroom wrapped in one of Basil's sweaters curled up looking sad. The moment he sees Basil he turns away. Basil sighs softly and goes over to Kelkian and tugs his crossed arms open so he can wiggle his way into his arms. Kelkian resists at first but gives in before long, holding Basil tightly, running his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry about earlier... I get so jealous and I show you I love you all the time but you don't really do that at all. It's been hurting me a bit honestly. I love you Basil." Kelkian kisses Basil deeply before Basil slides onto his lap smiling.

"I love you too Kelkian." Basil says sincerely making Kelkian smile and kiss him hard. " I have a surprise for you." He smiles eagerly before showing him his finger. He gasps and turns his finger to get a better look.

'Oh love..." Kelkian's eyes start to water as Basil makes the green snake slither around his finger with magic. That sets him off fully crying happy tears, pulling Basil close and smothering him with kisses. Once he calms down Basil smiles.

"My date actually knows of you. He is an elemental unbound named Mattias Cotton." Kelkian looks surprised before laughing wiping away his remaining tears.

"I know of him too. He's that giant redhead, right?" Basil nods and Kelkian grins. "So has our little trio become a quartet?" He seems to have warmed up a little bit to the idea.

"Maybe. It's too early to tell... I'm tired though. We should eat dinner then head to bed. I have Gram's hockey game tomorrow." Basil gets up. They do just that, eating dinner that Basil's mother made and heading to bed together, cuddled up in each other's arms.
