Standing in the entrance hall, you look around anxiously. Smoothing your hands down your outfit in an attempt to calm your nerves, you continue to scan the crowds for your date—Cedric Diggory.

Cedric had asked you out last week. You'd always been friends, but you hadn't spent a lot of time together, so it came as a shock when he'd asked you. Although it was shocking, you didn't hesitate to say yes because anyone could see that Cedric was attractive, and everyone that knew him knew he was a genuinely good person.

When you'd woken up this morning, your stomach was a flurry of nerves and excitement. The location of your date was a secret. All Cedric had revealed was that it was somewhere in Hogsmeade, since it was one of the designated Hogsmeade weekends. You hoped that wherever it was, it wasn't too busy, as you knew how much chaos could ensue during these weekends with all the students who were old enough letting off all their steam.

Not to mention the fact that Cedric was very popular; eyes always followed him wherever he went, constantly leaving a chorus of hellos in his wake. This was another factor that contributed to your surprise when he asked you on the date—he'd always been nice to you, but he'd never shown you any special interest amongst all his other friends and acquaintances...until now.

"Hey, Y/N," Cedric said from behind you, his voice snapping you out of your thoughts.
Turning around to face him, you feel a blush rise up your cheeks.
"Hi, Cedric," you respond.
"Have you guessed where I'm taking you yet?" He flashes you a cheeky grin.
You shake your head, giving a nervous smile. "Not quite."
"Don't worry, it will be a nice surprise. I promise." He notes your nervous smile. "No need to be nervous."

Normally, someone telling you not to be nervous would have the opposite of their intended effect, making your nerves skyrocket even further. With Cedric, however, you feel you can trust him more than others, so his words do ease at least some of your nerves.

"Come on. Let's go before the crowds come," Cedric says, offering his hand to you.
You slip your hand into his as he gently leads you through the huge wooden doors outside to the slightly chilly weather.

As you walk along the winding path to Hogsmeade, you and Cedric settle into a comfortable conversation that flows naturally. The longer you talk, the more you can feel your nerves evaporate.

Usually, you feel that the walk down to Hogsmeade feels impossibly long, but walking along with Cedric, it passes so quickly that it almost comes as a shock when the familiar buildings come into view.

Although you left before the majority of people, there are still groups of people meandering around, floating between different shops, and laughing with their friends.

"Are you finally going to tell me where we're going?" you ask, innocently batting your eyelashes in an attempt to persuade him.
"Hmm," he says, pretending to think. "No." He smirks. "But I will show you. We're nearly there."

You look around you to see what buildings are nearby, trying to guess where you could be headed. It's only when you see the pink walls and the green sign that you realise.

"Madam Puddifoot's!" you exclaim triumphantly, making Cedric laugh.
"I really don't know how you didn't guess it, to be honest." He's still laughing, his eyes showing his smile too.
You shrug. "I've never actually been here, so I guess it just slipped my mind."
"How come?"
You raise your eyebrows. "It's a couple's hot spot, so I've tended to avoid the place, and no one's ever invited me before, so..." You trail off, shrugging sheepishly once more.

There is a beat of silence. Cedric furrows his eyebrows slightly before his face relaxes, and he gives you a winning smile. "Well. It's an honour to bring you here for the first time."
You feel a blush creeping up your cheeks once more as you return his smile, slightly speechless.

Noticing your temporary speechlessness, Cedric once again gently leads you forward, this time into the cosy café.

The decor inside matches the pink and green aesthetic of the shopfront. To some, it may seem a bit excessive or gaudy, but there is a certain charm to the place.

Cedric leads you to a table nestled in the corner. As soon as you both sit, two menus float over, which you both scan, chatting about what you think you might get.

It's surprising to you how comfortable this situation seems to you. Talking to Cedric seems completely natural, and you soon settle into another flowing conversation.

Throughout the date, Cedric is nothing but charming, making you laugh with the two of you sharing a flirt here and there. The drinks and little treats you both ordered are mouthwatering, which is saying something considering how spoiled you are with delicious food back at Hogwarts.

A couple of hours easily pass by, and you can feel yourself already growing to like Cedric a lot more. So much so that when he suggests you should start heading back, you feel disappointed.

"I really enjoyed spending time with you," you say shyly as you begin your journey back to the castle.
Cedric smiles down at you. "Me too, Y/N. We should definitely come back again next time."
You nod in agreement. "Definitely."

As you walk along, you try to remember when the next Hogsmeade weekend is. You deflate a little when you realise it's quite far away.

Almost as if he's read your mind, Cedric speaks again. "In the mean time, I'd love to hang out with you again. I'm sure we can find a way to entertain ourselves around the castle. That is, if you want to anyway." For the first time today, a small blush leaks onto his cheek, showing his shyness, much to your surprise.
"Of course! That sounds great. Just let me know." You squeeze his hand reassuringly, your insides filled with joy.
He squeezes your hand back, his calm confidence returning to his face. "I will."

Knowing that you also have an effect on Cedric makes you feel light and bubbly inside, and you already can't wait to spend more time with him. This date couldn't have been more successful.
