Sorry your request took so long to do. I don't know if this is what you had in mind, and it is rushed a good bit, but I hope you enjoy it.

Warnings: Abusive/toxic Virgil, emotional/mental/physical abuse, unsympathetic/ toxic Patton, blaming oneself for abuse, oblivious Logan, Remus isn't happy (so violent), cussing

I think I'm going to start adding summaries at the beginning of each one-shot, so

Summary: Virgil is a bad boyfriend, Patton knows and is a bad friend, Logan has no clue, Remus is ready to murder (such a great summary, I know)

Roman was so excited the day Virgil asked him out. He had a crush on Virgil for a while. He knew that Virgil was his true love. His knight in shining armor, his fairy tale, his happily ever after.

Right?

At first Roman didn't even notice as Virgil started to change. He didn't notice Virgil becoming more controlling. It took until things went too far for him to notice.

"Roman, come watch a movie with me."

Roman sat hunched over his desk while Virgil sat on his bed. "Not right now Virgil, I have to finish my work."

"I knew you didn't truly love me."

Roman looked at Virgil. He looked so heartbroken. "No! Its not like that."

Virgil looked him in the eyes. "Prove it." Roman looked around desperately. "Umm... I can work later." He put down his pen. "We can watch a movie. I love you, I do!" Virgil smiled and walked over to Roman. He kissed the top of Roman's head. "I believe you, but I have to punish you so you don't do it again." Roman looked shocked, "What! But-" "I knew it! You want to ignore me! You hate me!" "No! Go ahead, please, I'm sorry. Do whatever you want, I love you."

Slap!

Virgil kissed the red mark. "You made me do this. I didn't want to. I love you."

Its okay. He loves you. You caused this. Its your fault. He just wants what is best for you. This is what love is. Right?

This became normal. It started as a simple slap for messing up. But slowly it became more violent. More often. But it was his fault, he caused it. He just needs to be better. This is love. Right? Of course! But... No! Virgil loves him! He does? Patton will know. He'll know if what Virgil is doing is right or not! But Virgil threatened him not to tell. Patton will understand, and Virgil doesn't have to find out.

Roman walked into Patton's room. "Hey Padre?" "Yes kiddo?" "I think Virgil might be a bit abusive..." Patton's bright smile faded and his eyes grew dark. "Kiddo... I thought you promised Virgil that you wouldn't tell. It's not good to break promises." Patton walked over and locked the door. Roman was shocked and terrified. Patton stuck out his hand and summoned Virgil. "Bad news, Virgil. Roman broke his promise." Virgil's face grew dark. He sighed, "I guess you'll have to be punished. You left me no choice. The others agree. If you misbehave, you have to be punished."

Everything hurt.

They had dumped Roman in his room once they were done. He couldn't move. He felt tears slip down his face. Why was he crying? It was his fault. He did what he was told not to do. Virgil said so. He loved him and so he was trying to make Roman better. That is how love works. But... is it?

He heard a side pop up in his room. Fear coursed through him. "Hey Ro, want to battle?" Roman closed his eyes tight. It was Remus. "Oh come on Ro, I want to- Roman!" He heard Remus run up to him. Roman couldn't help but flinch.

"Shit," he heard Remus mutter. Roman heard another side pop in. "I need your help Janus." He heard footsteps come over. He felt arms carefully scoop him up. He was placed on the bed. Roman opened his eyes to see Janus looking at him worriedly with a first aid kit in his hand. Remus stood behind Janus. "Ro...what happened?"

"The others agree. If you misbehave, you have to be punished." This must be a test, right? To prove that he is being a good boyfriend and obeying Virgil?

Roman let out a chuckle. "Just a battle with a dragon witch gone wrong." Janus paused his work on Roman and looked up at him. "Roman... I'd appreciate it if you told the truth."

Wait! Wasn't he supposed to lie and keep it a secret? But Janus was asking for the truth, lying would count as misbehaving then, right? And misbehaving means getting punished.

"It w-was Virgil and Patton. I b-broke my promise and t-told Patton what I was told n-not to, so I was p-punished."

Janus and Remus looked mortified. "What! They can't do that! I'm going to kill them!" Remus growled.

Roman was confused. "No! It was my fault! I didn't listen!" Janus looked at him sympathetically. "That doesn't mean they have the right to hurt you Roman. That is manipulation and abuse. I know deep down, a part of you must have realized this."

Roman hesitated. He had thought about it, but Patton was morality, he knew what was right and wrong. But, he had thought that Virgil was doing it because he loved him. Yet, Virgil has never looked at him and showed he cared like Janus and Remus were.

Roman sighed, "I believe you. I guess I should break up with Virgil." Janus nodded. Remus jumped in, bouncing up and down, "You can move in with us! Right, Janus?" Janus didn't even hesitate. "Of course." Roman smiled. He would be safe there. "I would love to." They sunk out into the living room of the darkside. Roman was gently placed onto the couch. "We'll be right back." Roman sighed, "Just, don't do anything stupid." "No promises."

Remus and Janus sunk into the lightside living room. Logan, Patton, and Virgil jumped in surprise at seeing the two darksides. Virgil hissed, "What are two doing here."

"Oh, we just came to talk about how you and Patton have been abusing Roman." Remus growled, raising his morning star menacingly.

Logan eyes went wide. He stood up and looked at the two accused sides. "They've done what!?" Patton met Logan's eyes, pleading. "Logie...you know that those two are a bunch of liars." Logan shook his head. "You are the liar here. I should have seen the signs. Their explanation explains a lot." Logan walked over to the dark sides. "I wish to visit Roman, if I may." Janus smiled at this, "Of course," and the three of them sunk back to where Roman was fast asleep. Both Logan and Janus felt their faces grow warm as they noticed how adorable Roman was. Remus left to make hot chocolate, Remembering how Roman loved it when they were younger. After the hot chocolate was ready, they sat on the couch and waited for Roman to wake up.

Timeskip because I'm rushing to get this done, am tired from school, and am just too lazy to write a proper ending (or really a proper oneshot). Oof. BIG oof.

When Roman woke up the others apologized for not noticing earlier. Logan clean Roman's cuts and bruises and wrapped them in fresh bandages. The three could tell Roman was still anxious, so they snuggled on the couch, watched Disney movies, and drank hot chocolate.

Snuggled up on the couch with Logan softly reassuring him while running his fingers through his hair, Janus softly singing along and occasionally placing gentle kisses on his hand, and Remus making inappropriate jokes the whole time watching to see if Roman laughed, all while constantly making sure he was okay and comfortable, Roman finally had the answer to his question.

This was love.

This was kinda rushed and didn't turn out how I wanted it to, but I really wanted to post something. Also, I was too lazy to proofread, so there are probably a lot of errors and mistakes. Hopefully the next one shot turns out better. Anyways, hope you enjoyed!
