short walk

"Hey, shortstack."

"Oh! Hey!" Eri replied.

"Why are you sitting out here by yourself? It's freezing."

Kota sat next to her, skate board under his feet.

"Um, well, I'm just waiting for my dad. He can take a while, but I never walk home by myself."

"It's getting cold! I'm pretty sure your dad will understand."

It took a second for eri to process what kota had said.

"Walk home?"

"Mhm."

"Alone?"

"If you want."

"No!"

"Then I'll walk with you!"

"Are you sure? I dont want to cause you any trouble.."

"I'm sure."

Eri smiled. She took out her phone and opened her texts.

-hey papa, I'm gonna walk home now.

-are you gonna be okay?

-yeah I'm walking with a friend. See you tonight. Loves❤️

"Put on the jacket, you'll catch a cold!"

Eri did as she was told and put the jacket on, put her phone in the pocket and began to walk with kota.

"So."

Kota began out if nowhere.

"So what?"

"You ever been on a skate board?"

"Uh, no.."

"Wanna try?"

"I-i don't know," eri hesitated, "What if I get hurt? I think it's safer to just focus on my grades and stuff."

That wasn't a lie. She did prefer to focus on her grades. She needed to make everyone proud, and the little things her friends did just didn't seem like something that could help her do that.

"It'll be fine, eri! I'll be right here the whole time, okay?"

She nodded her head.

"Great! So first, let's get you balanced."

"And youre sure- like absolutely positively sure- that this is safe?"

"Yes, just trust me."

The girl slowly gets on the board. Kotta holding her steady.

The walk took alot longer than they were expecting, but eventually made it to the aizawa house.

Eri never once fell. Almost fell alot, but never fell.

The two kids laughed and joked the whole time. The first time in a long time eri felt happy.

"I should go inside, say bye to my brother."

"Wait, wheres he going?" Kota asked, genuinely curious.

"He's going back to training tonight. He'll be gone a few years.."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault, besides alot of my other friends are gone, too. So it's not that hard to say goodbye, right?"

She put a smile on her face but couldn't stop the tears that rolled down her face.

"You should talk to your brother. I'll see you tomorrow, 'kay?"

"Yeah!"

So kota made his way back to his aunt's house and eri walked into her house.
