Draco pov

Hermione did, in fact, spend the entire day reading. Both Luna and I went to check on her, to see if she was okay but she was in a complete other world. I asked Mother if she wanted Hermione for anything but she just chuckled and said: "Leave the girl to her books Draco, she'll be here for the next few weeks, she has plenty of time to socialize."

After that, we left her alone but we made sure to send her up some lunch.

She appears at dinner with a relaxed smile on her face. "Hermione," Mother says looking at her cheerfully. "I see the addition of bookshelves was a good decision, did you learn anything new?"

Hermione blushes deeply, 'redder than a Weasley' as they say, "Yes I found a large collection of medical books that are a part of the Healer curriculum, a couple of magical gardening books which I hope to use if you let me assist you with tending your garden and a wide range of fictional books, including a copy of my favourite novel, Matilda."

"Oh, I haven't read that yet!" Luna chirps from opposite Hermione. Even with Father's absence we still sat in traditional positioning out of habit. Mother is sat next to the chair Father would have sat in, on the right, Hermione and I sit next to her (Hermione first, oddly enough) and Uncle Xenophilius and Luna were sitting opposite us, on the left to where Father would have sat.

"I'm glad you enjoyed yourself," Mother says. "And yes of course you can assist me with gardening however for the flower beds, I don't actually use magic to tend to them only to correct the conditions they should be grown in."

"Excellent," she says then starts eating so I nudge her shoulder.

"How many of those books have you already read?" I whisper. She mouths "half" then carries on so I nudge her again. "How many of that other half did you read today?"

She glares at me from the corner of her eye then quietly says "All of them, didn't find what I was looking for though."

I trying not to wince I chuckle and mutter "I expected nothing less."

"Aunty Cissa, Draco said you might take us shopping," Luna says abruptly. "There's a sale on chocolate pudding in that new dessert shop in Diagon Alley."

"Oh yes, it's called Amai!" Mother recalls. "Andromeda took me there recently."

"Can we go?" Luna says with stars in her eyes.

"Yes Mother, Ludding needs her pudding," I chuckle.
"But what about the foxes?" Uncle exclaims pouting.

"They'll have to wait another day, Xeno," Mother sighs.

"How about after we eat, Draco, Luna and I can hang out in my room?" Hermione suggests.

"Sure why not!" I shrug.

We finish eating and head upstairs to Hermione's room. "Oh, all the books are put away," Hermione exclaims.

"The house-elves musts have put them away," I explain.

"Oh," she says looking slightly horrified, I imagine she's thinking of S.P.E.W. "Never mind then. Should we play a game?"

Luna claps her hand "Let's say random truths about ourselves."

"Why?" I ask. "It sounds rather pointless." Luna pouts and stares at me with big sad eyes "Alright, alright, we'll play the game."

"You gave up fast Draco," Hermione chuckles.

I shrug "I'll go first," I say as I sit down on Hermione's bed. "Potter stalked me in sixth year."

"Yeah we know," the two girls say in unison.

I roll my eyes, of course they do, "Your turn Luna."

"In my first year, I accidentally stumbled into the boy's bathrooms. It smelled awful."

The girls share a look of disgust, then I nod at Hermione "Mya, your turn."

Hermione pauses and I could practically see her sorting through her memories to see what counts as a secret, "During Seventh year, I accidentally hexed a rabbit whilst we were on the run and it died then I served it to Harry and Ron for dinner."

"And the numpties ate it?" I exclaim.

She nods, "I told them it was mushrooms, neither of them are fussy eaters and they scoffed it."

"I'm still trying to get my head around it," I say wide-eyed. "Hermione Granger actually killed a living thing!"

She whacks my arm, "Shut up, I feel guilty enough as it is."

Luna giggles and her eyes go misty "Have you ever heard of a Clawrire beast? It listens to people's conversations and changes the mood so people don't know what to talk about."

Hermione and I exchange glances, "If anyone is a Clawrire here Luna, it's you."

She giggles then yawns. She clambers onto the bed and falls asleep straight away.

"No fair, how does she do that?" Hermione moans.

I shrug, "Accio dreamless sleep potion." The vial comes flying into my hand then I open it and gently lift up the sleepings blonde's head and open her mouth and pour a third of it into it. I wave my wand and transfigure her clothes into a blue pyjama dress.

"Can I stay here?" I ask Hermione.

"Why?"

"Because I can't be bothered to go back to my room," I reply. I conjure a large sofa in the middle of the room.

"Your room is right across from her. It's a 30-second walk."

"That's 29 seconds too long!" I protest. I transfigure my clothes into pyjamas and lay down on the sofa.

"Nothing I say is going to make you leave is it?" she sighs. I shake my head and laugh. She rolls her eyes "Ugh, you're like the annoying younger brother I never had!"

My eyes widen  in shock as she searches her bottomless pouch "About that..."

"Where are all my things?!" she exclaims.

I chuckle, "House-elves. If you're looking for clothes, there's a walk-in wardrobe in the bathroom."

"No there isn't, I used it this..." she pauses as she enters the bathroom. "This wasn't here before!"

"It works like the room of requirement," I explain. "Just as much smaller and only one room."

I hear the door open as she exclaims "It's like freaking Narnia in here!"

Then silence.

It's broken after five minutes when she comes back in a long white nightdress and a red one in her arms. "90% of that stuff isn't even mine!" she says.

It dawns upon me the lengths Mother had gone to, to accept Hermione as her daughter she must have given her, her old clothes as well. Mother used to tell me that is what she would do if she had a daughter.

Curse you Potter and your interfering.

I take a breath, "Never mind Mya, why don't you just lie down and go to sleep. Shopping with Mother is one of the most physically and mentally draining past times you could ever do.

She chuckles then goes to brush her teeth. I realise neither Luna nor I had done that but I shrug, too lazy to get up from the comfortable position.

When Hermione comes back she levitates Luna's body to one side of the bed and then lays down on the other and then the lights go out and we both drift to sleep.
