After all four of them enjoyed their meal it was already quite late in the evening so Daichi decided it would be best to get his younger siblings into their rooms, let them watch a movie and then bring them to bed. Suga helped as best as he could.
As both finished they decided to sit down and talk a bit but got interrupted by the sound of the door unlocking.
"I think that's my parents", Daichi said rather quietly before getting up and making his way to the door. "Welcome home mom and dad."
Daichi's parents placed their bags down and proceeded to take off their shoes as the mother looked up and at Daichi. "Ah, Daichi... you're still up?"
"It's not that late yet... but Emi and Atsushi are in bed already."
"Thanks sweetie."
"No problem... and", Daichi said, "well... there is somebody I would like you to meet."
"Who is it?" his father spoke up.
"Someone from school..."
"Oh so a friend?" the mother asked.
Daichi hesitated for a bit before answering. "Not quite", he paused for a bit, "I'm actually in a relationship-"
"Oh what a surprise! So you have a girlfriend now? Is it Yui by any chance?", the joy of his mother was very clear.
His father added "You always got along with her well-"
"No, that's not it", Daichi interrupted.
A moment of silence arouse before his mother spoke up. "So it's..."
"Mom, Dad... I'd like you to meet my boyfriend, Suga."
"Oh dear... I didn't know you-"
"Mom... another time, ok?"
"Sure."
Daichi and his parents entered the living room where Suga immediately greeted them. "My name is Sugawara Koushi. I'm pleased to meet you."
As Suga politely bowed before them, the mother replied in surprise "Pleased to meet you, too."
"You seem quite nice", said the father "please", he added, "take a seat. Can I get you anything to drink?"
Suga shakes his head slightly. "No, thank you. I'm fine."
"What about you, Daichi?"
"I'm fine as well."
"And you, dear?"
"A glass of water please."
"Sure thing."
"Thanks, darling."
With that, the father went and got his wife a glass of water before sitting down with them.
The mother took a sip of water. "So... how long have you two been together now?"
"Just a few days", her son answered.
"Well how did you get so... close to each other?"
Suga answered "We play in the same Volleyball club."
"Oh that's nice. What position do you play?"
"I'm a setter." He said proudly.
Daichi's father got curious. "Interesting. What do your parents do as a job?"
"... I'd prefer not to talk about them... if that's acceptable..."
The mothers look changed to a worried expression. "Of course! If you need any financial support we could try and arrange something just in case-"
"Oh no don't worry! It's nothing like that... they're quite wealthy to be honest", Suga interrupted to clear up any misunderstandings.
"Ok good", she said relieved "apologies for jumping to conclusions..."
"No it's fine. I can't blame you", Suga reassured.
The father spoke up again. "Anyways... how did you decide to be together?"
"Well we always got along quite well", Suga said.
Daichi decided to add his opinion to the conversation. "I suppose it was clear that our relationship was more than just good friendship."
"Even though I was scared of taking a step forward because it could ruin something, I trust Daichi and he was really reassuring and supportive ever since I met him", Suga confessed.
"Heh", Daichi chuckled a bit, "thanks. But you're very sweet and kind so you helped me out a lot as well."
Coming back to the question Suga said "So I guess we just enjoyed each other's company... and then one day after school where we got something to eat..."
"... We talked about our feelings and decided we could try it out to see if it would work out", Daichi finished the sentence.
"And what's your conclusion so far?", his father asked.
Suga answered almost immediately "So far I am really happy."
"Me too", Daichi added, "I'm not regretting my decision even a single bit."
His mother looked at the two as they answered her husband's question. "How cute", she expressed as she finished her glass water which made Suga remember that it was already quite late.
"Oh sorry", he apologized, "I didn't plan on staying this late. I don't want to disturb your evening so I'll make my way home."
"No it's fine don't worry. But if you need to go or feel like leaving feel free to do so", Daichi tried comforting his boyfriend.
"I'm fine, Daichi", he smiled.
Daichi's mother stated, "Well it was nice meeting you."
"I have to agree", her husband agreed.
"And I can only say the same", Suga said with a smile as he moved towards the door.
"Hey Suga?", Daichi stopped him before he left, "Be careful, ok?"
"Of course, Daichi. I will", he reassured him, "Thank you a lot. For everything. This was a nice evening."
Daichi smiled at him. "I'm glad you liked it."
"I did", he turned to Daichi's parents, "And thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Sawamura, for the hospitality."
The father smiled. "Anytime, Sugawara-kun."
His wife gave Suga a soft smile, too. "Until next time!"
"Sure!", Suga waved before he leaves and makes his way home.
"He's such a sweet boy", the mother comments.
"He is, right?", Daichi said smugly.
"So about-", she started.
"I don't know either", Daichi interrupted, "My feelings for him just developed over time. I have no control over it."
"Oh no, we're not mad or anything... just surprised", his father added.
"I can't blame you... But I'm glad you like him."
"I don't believe there's anyone who doesn't", the mother noted.
"Hehe yeah. Suga is well liked", Daichi mentioned, "Anyways... I have school tomorrow so I'll study a bit now and then get some rest."
His father nodded shortly at him. "Yeah do that."
"Goodnight then sweetie", his mother added while smiling.
"Goodnight."
