The gym wasn't crowded considering that it was a Monday morning. Stepping in, I made my way over to the treadmill, working the buttons and setting it up to an appropriate speed.
Taking a deep breath, I began exercising. Stoping at intervals to take gulps of water. As time passed, people began to file into the gym, some casting me quick glances as they passed while the others just minding their own business. Stepping down from the threadmill, I wiped my forehead with a towel and sat down on a chair, pulling out my phone to check for any texts or phone calls."Cait?" a voice called, only one person called me by that name. I looked up, my gaze meeting with his. The look on his face was that of shock, then concern. He ran a hand through his dark hair, his mouth opening and closing continuously as he struggled to find words to say. He hadn't changed at all from when I'd last seen him, although his hair was slightly longer than usual. He had on a blue t shirt and black sweats, his big brown eyes stared at me for a little more time before he finally rushed over and pulled me into a hug, I hugged him back realising how much I'd actually missed him he smelled like vanilla and mint, I missed that. He pulled back and pressed a kiss to my forehead.
"How are you?" His voice was gruff, like he was trying to hold back his tears.
"I'm fine, Jay" I replied watching as his eyes lit up.
"How about you?"
"I've just been here for real, not really been the best" he mumbled taking a seat next to me. "But like are you really actually here or am I dreaming?"
I chuckled "I'm really actually here"
He ran a hand through his hair "When did you get back?"
"Yesterday"
"Yesterday? You didn't even inform me"
"I was preoccupied, I haven't really settled"
He pursed his lips "You're staying with your brother?"
"Yeah"
He was silent, his eyes watching me.
"What?" I laughed.
"You've chamged, I don't know, sort of" he rambled
"Changed?" I asked amused
"In a good way" he replied
I sighed, closing my eyes briefly "I'm getting homeschooled"
"I figured" was his reply
After a while of silence, he finally spoke again "What now?"
"What?" I looked at him
"I mean, we never broke up you know"
"It's been six months" I bit my lip "You didn't move on?"
"How could I?" my heart soared at his question "My girlfriend was in the hospital for six months and I'm supposed to move on? I couldn't get over you, I was scared, worried and I hated the fact that I couldn't contact you at all" he looked at me before interwinning our hands.
"I missed you" I finally said and he sighed, meeting my eyes.
"I missed you too"

I was hungry when I got back home. But I didn't bother to eat, I couldn't. I had to find a way to cut down on my weight, being over sixty wasn't too good for me. Taking off my shoes by the door, I clutched them in my hand and began walking up the stairs. No one was home. Thank God.
As I got to the door to my room, I heard voices coming from the door opposite mine, Bradley's room.I frowned, wasn't he supposed to be at school? My frown only grew deeper when I realised he could have skipped school just to bring a girl over. How irresponsible!
And what was he even doing in our house anyway? Didn't he have a family or something?
Walking up to his door, I knocked twice and heard the voices hush.
"Who is it?" came his deep voice
"Why are you at home? Aren't you supposed to be at school?"
Silence.
Suddenly, I noticed the door unlock and he poked his head out. His eyes narrowed.
"Do you have problem with that?"
"You also left the door open, anyone could have come in" I shot him a dirty look.
"I didn't- " he paused before saying "Sorry, look I have something really important to attend to and I would like if you don't interfere"
My brows raised in mock "Ooh, you brought a girl over?" Then I raised my voice "Don't worry, I'm not here to steal your man"
His brows furrowed, his eyes looking cold and conflicted "What are you doing?"
"Trying to clear the air" I gave him a 'duh' look.
Then he ran a hand through his hair "Listen, I don't know what you're on about, but I just want to say I'm sorry about my rude behaviour earlier, I'm assuming that's why you're being so rude now"
My facade dropped as I stated at him for a while trying to figure him out. He only stared back.
"Fine" I sighed and was cut off when a voice sounded from inside the room although I couldn't really make out what the person said. He clenched his his jaw and looked at me.
"Thank you" with that, he shut the door
Well, that was weird.
