Khayal's P.O.V

Taking out the trash was the last chore on the list for the day. I swiftly tossed the bag in the trash can right outside the gate, letting out a grumpy sigh.

"Why do women have to suffer for not being pregnant?" Tsk! My cramps was getting severe so I hastened in to make my clove tea. It works wonders all the time. You might want to try it out and I know for sure that you will definitely thank me later.

It was a recipe I learned from my late mother. I do add a little bit of honey to give it a nice, sweet flavour, it totally depends on you anyway.

After making the tea, I placed the mug on the coaster on my reading table, took my seat and opened my laptop to finish up the draft for my next blog post.

Dang! Adulthood is so much, you literally don't get a time out no matter how hectic your schedule is. My phone beeped indicating I have a new message.

"It can only be her." I chuckled with a smile. I replied to the message and continued working on what I was doing.

I wasn't expecting her to come home this soon but then it's fine. I quickly had a conversation with myself in my head if to cook for her or not but concluded that she would do it when she get here as my stomach grumbled.

"I shouldn't be stressing." I massaged my aching forehead and rested my head for a while.

Life sucks. One moment, it's all rosy, the next, everything is grey and bitter. How can you be having a perfectly beautiful day and in a blink of an eye, nothing seems to resonate with you? Like now, I was craving to finish my blog post to meet up with the deadline I set for myself and suddenly lost interest 7 minutes into it. What sorcery is that?

Periods do come with a whole lot of nonsense and rubbish but this particular one is the height of it all, tsk. I heard my Tommy grumble again and I knew better than to ignore it. I picked a race to the restroom to do my business, got in and sat down, ready to get in action.

I waited for 2 more minutes, but nothing happened!

"Are we doing this? Are we not doing this?" I grumped. ", This is frustrating, I give up! I washed my hands and came out.

'Trriiinngg! That was the doorbell. She's here.

"Come in, it's open," I said in a weak but audible voice. The door creaked as she opened it and I watched her struggle with her luggage from afar.

"Welcome, baby."

"Uhh, a little help here!" She squinted her eyes dismissing my welcome. How rude.

"Uhh, I don't stress on my red days. Please hurry up with your luggage and close the door. The mosquitoes here don't joke with blood sucking." I turned away with a smirk as her jaw dropped.

"Yes, your majesty. She said with sarcasm.

" Sissyyyyy." She squealed and gave me a bear hug from behind and that made me chuckle. Child. "I missed you." She pouted.

"Same here, my love." How has school been?"

"Crazily hectic." She said with a huff.

"Sorry, my love. Just take a shower. Lunch will be ready soon." Ugh, not me changing my mind at the last minute again. I shut down my laptop and stood up letting out a stressed sigh.

"Ohhh, what are you making cuz I miss your cooking so so much?"

"Poundo yam and egusi." I rolled my eyes at her greedy attitude.

"You are the best." She faked a sniff and hugged me again.

"Ahh, don't break me, you! Cut it out Hafeezoh, cut it out." I struggled from her grip.

"Zip it,would you?!" She giggled and poked my forehead before leaving.

Hafy would do literally anything for food and she can be so annoying too, ugh! How on earth did I end up to be her elder sister because that girl behaves nothing like me.

I lazily went to the kitchen to prepare lunch while reprimanding myself for changing my mind. This cramps will show me 'shege' today.

I stood in the middle of our mini-sized kitchen, looking dazed. What should I do first? Should I put the water to boil or bring out the egusi in the fridge to warm or get the poundo yam flour from the storage bucket?

I stayed in that position asking and answering needless questions in my head when I could have gotten two to three things done. I snapped out of it 99 seconds later and actually started cooking the food I would have been half done with.

Welcome to my world!

"Khayal, are you almost done?" Hafy came to the kitchen minutes later.

"Apparently not!"

"Okayyy, sheesh! What should I do?"

"You can warm the egusi, thank you."

"All right." She opened the fridge and brought out the egusi to warm.

We finished cooking in no time and dished out the meal on different plates.

"Umm, oh my, this is delicious, khayal." Hafy complimented with her mouth full and I simply smiled and shook my head.

After having lunch, we went to the balcony of my room to get some fresh, evening air and do some catch up.

"I miss this." She sipped on her juice.

"Me too."
