They think that we are happy.
Have they seen us when we cried?
Do they notice the tears on our face?
No,not at all.
We only showed them the part of us we wanted people to see.
I wish they knew that not all wounds are visible.

The day she had dreaded for days, infact weeks was finally here. The day she had to go back to resume school only that this time around, she had to resume as a repeater. The last night was hell for her. She couldn't sleep a wink and ended up tossing and tossing until she slept off early into the morning and had to rise by 7am.

It would be a lie if she said she was scared. Heck, scared wasn't even the right word to use. She was more than terrified, frightened and above all, she was afraid. Being in that school for close to 4 years, she has come to know, the various inhumane things the students did to repeaters. One of her classmate, scratch that! Ex-classmate who was in their set due to the fact that he repeated went through hellish torture until he moved away from the school. If they could do such to him, then she knew that they could do much more worse to her considering the fact that it was going to be the current Jss3 set and she and most of her classmates hated their set with every fibre in their body due to an unspoken incident that happened in their junior days.

Getting out of the bed, dressing up and preparing for school reminded her of the fact that she was going to go to school today! There was no excuse she could give anymore since she had managed to persuade them not to allow her go to school yesterday. Her mum had to even force her to come down for breakfast.

"oh! I'm dead! Aswear I'm dead." Susie lamented as she paced round the dining area.

Layo who was eating her breakfast, a plate of fried plaintain and fried eggs could only ignore her sister. She knew what her sister wanted to get at but didn't want to give her the liberty to do so.

"better stop saying such rubbish." her mother warned as she went back to eating.

"but mummy, it's true na, Layo want to use her own to koba me. Is she the first person in this world to repeat? Please oo, me I can't afford to be late for school, they've already given me my head girl badge." Susie said nonchalantly as she went back to seat on the dinning chair and behaved like she did not just utter that statement.

Layo could only allow the tears she had managed to hold back. That was one thing she hated, she was such person that easily cried, more, words usually get to her a lot, leaving her as an emotional mess.

Her mother who noticed the tears, held her hand and squeezed it tightly. More like she was begging her to be strong. She knew that Susie was like a goat, no matter how she had warned and corrected her. She still wouldn't change.

"or should I call your father and tell him you want to change schools?" Mrs. Alapetu asked Layo with a tone of concern.

"yes, please. That'll even be the best idea. My mates cannot be talking to me anyhow that my sister repeated." Layo responded.

"let this be the first and the last time, I'll ask your sister something and you'll reply in place of her. Did she tell you she did not have mouth." her mum questioned. "Am I not talking to you."

"I'm...."

"shut up and you better stand up this instant. I'm the one dropping off." her mum interrupted.

"mommy, mommy..... See as you're rocking suit skirt. I'm sorry na." she pouted.

Her mum hissed as she adjusted her skirt down to cover her knee cap. She was dressed in an official attire of a black suit skirt and inner long sleeved shirt paired with black suit jacket and skirt and black flats. She complemented the dressing by packing her attachment hair into a ponytail. She could pass as a thirty year old at that instance. Even till date, some people still mistook her and Layo, as sisters.
