Chapter 7

Vanessa's POV:

"Good morning, princess" Jasper greeted me when I went downstairs.

"Good morning Jasper, Um I am going to spend some time with Duke today," I said.

"Yeah, I know, go on enjoy, we will take care of Auston,"

"Thanks, I think I will be back by evening,"

"Ok, take care," Jasper hugged me.

"Hmm, bye," I said as I got out of the house. Dark clouds surrounded the sun. It's past twelve in the noon but it feels like it's still four in the morning. I was looking at the sky when I heard the sound of a car. I turned my head and saw a car entering through iron gates.

"Good morning Vanessa, you are looking pretty," Duke greeted when he got out of his car and winked at me.

"Good morning Duke, thank you handsome," I replied with a smile and hugged him.

"Let's go shall we sleepyhead," Duke gestured towards his car.

"I am not sleepyhead," I replied with a frown.

"Yeah, you are not," Duke chuckled.

"Today's weather is not ideal for a date I think," Duke said when we exited through main gates of my mansion.

"Not ideal for what Duke," I arched my eyebrow up and looked at him with a cold expression. It's funny how he panics whenever I give this kind of reaction to his jokes.

"I meant not ideal for going out together Vanessa," He smiled nervously. "Yeah, Yeah," 

We sat in silence throughout the ride. I didn't know where he was taking me until we reached the older town.The older part of the city is where we all grew up, Me, Duke and Zain.

"Where are we going?" I asked him. All the memories of my childhood came flooding back, the way we used to bunk our classes together, the way we used to gather up in the park to go for a walk or to play, the way we three were together.

"You wanna come out princess," Duke said with a frown, he was holding the car's door for me. "Yeah," I gave him an awkward smile before getting out.

We were standing in front of our favourite restaurant. I haven't come here for a long time but it's the same. The two-story building with same brown colour walls, wooden gates and open flame gaslights.

"You liked it? I mean there is nothing to like but I thought you would be happy to come here," Duke said as he nervously scratched the back of his neck. 

It's not that I don't like it, but it feels like my past is haunting me. Every memory which I tried to be away from and everything that I wanted to forget is coming back.

"No Duke, I love it, Thank you so much," I smiled as I hugged him. I don't want him to feel that I am not happy, I went away without telling him, I was the one who hurt him and now I will compensate.

"So shall we?"

"Yeah," 

"Nothing is changed, even the interior is same," I said when we sat in our chairs.

"It's only been four years Vanessa and some things don't change with time," Duke replied as he handed me the menu.

"I thought the old part must have shifted to the new part," I answered.

There were rumours that everything in the older town would be shifted to the new town and in this part, someone wanted to build malls. This is what happens when the whole town is controlled by Mafias. I don't know who it was because my father didn't tell me about his business but I thought the rumours were true. I never wanted it to happen, we spent our whole childhood here and I loved it. Duke and Zain also didn't want this to happen, but we didn't have a choice back then.

"Yeah, those rumours we heard about malls were true but when Zain took over his father's business, he didn't allow in the meeting for this to happen, he strictly said that he won't let anyone change this town, so no one didn't even think about it again, matter closed. He suffered a loss for that though but he recovered eventually when Mr Black supported him,"

"Oh," This was all I said, I truly didn't want that to happen and I was happy that I still have a place where all my childhood memories are. 

"So now tell me how did you get there, I mean France and why didn't you contacted me?" Duke asked when our food arrived. 

"Um, you know my uncle right, I went there with him, I didn't contact you because I needed some time to you know settle everything down," I replied with a smile. I lied to him because I didn't want him to get stressed, I know he will get stressed when he will get to know that I was kidnapped...

"Oh, but you should have at least called me once, four years Vanessa, for four years you were away and I didn't even know where you were, I thought something happened to you," Duke said with a pained expression. I shouldn't have done it but I didn't have an option at that time. 

"Sorry Duke, let's not talk about this, let's talk about something good," I said and gave him an apologetic smile.

"Yeah, you are right, but I will ask these questions again and then you will have to answer them," "Ok, I will Mr Duke," 

"You will have to Ms Ruth," We both smiled at this. This Mr & Ms thing was and still our thing. We both used to address each other like this.

"Tell me about Marie, how is she doing?" I questioned and Duke stiffened. Marie is Duke's mother and was always a sensitive topic for Duke.

"Mom is fine and happy, she missed you and wanted to meet you when I told her that you are back here," Duke said with a grin. "I missed her too, will go to meet her someday," I replied with a smile.

I don't know about Duke's father. He was very abusive, so Marie left him. She is a very sweet woman, just like Duke. Duke look like her the only difference in both of them is that Duke has grey eyes and Marie have light brown eyes. 

"Let's go to the next destination, shall we?" Duke said enthusiastically after we finished our lunch. 

"Hmm, but tell me where are we going this time?" I asked him entering in the car. "Just somewhere," He replied.

After some time car came at a halt in front of an ice cream shop. Not any ordinary one, the one where we used to go every now and then. But I didn't want to go there, it had many memories of Zain and me. "Duke I don't want to go there, I am tired can you please buy me my favourite flavour?" I asked with a smile. "Yup, princess" Duke said getting out of the car.

I looked outside the car at a couple smiling and giggling. That's when I spotted him in a Mercedes Benz which was coming in my direction.

New chapter is here and I am successful in updating it on Monday *phew*

So this was Duke's and Vanessa's day together, but it's not the end, they still have to eat ice cream and maybe kiss? haha. What do you think about Vuke? or maybe Dane? or Danessa? Tell me which one you like :) 

Nothing interesting? I know it was boring but we got to know more about Duke and Vanessa. And Vanessa saw someone...
