Chapter 2

Vanessa's POV: 

*FLASHBACK*

"Hey Vane, you are looking hot"

"You know what Zain,I'm not some kind of beverage" I replied while trying to cover my crimson red face. 

"Yeah, but you can be my Hot chocolate babe" With that he came closer and closer and closer..

"Ahem, are you done flirting?" We both jerked away and now I'm probably looking like a tomato, 'Ahh, Vane you can go as red as a beetroot with his few words. Get a grip will you' my inner voice told me.

"You are surely looking very pretty Vanessa, but we have to go and get the arrangements done in the backyard right?" "You came at the wrong time buddy" Can't he just shut up already.

"Lets go Duke" I said and started walking towards the backyard.

"Hey man, both of you can't you set it a bit up" "You know what Vane, we are not giraffes" Zain said mimicking my tone earning a glare from me. "Wait I will bring ladder from the storage room"

"Yeah that's better" Replied Zain. 

'Why does this storage room have to be fucking locked'  

" Vanessa, Vanessa, Why are you still here." Duke was panting hard.

"Wait a minute" 

"No need it's done, come check it" He grabbed my hand and literally dragged me out of the storage to the back yard.

"Wow...."

 BOOM

*FLASHBACK OVER*

Bang.. bang... bang...

"Whoa, your shooting skills are amazing princess" Suddenly a familiar voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

"What are you doing here Duke?" My harsh words, kinda hurt him, I didn't wanted to hurt him, my mind was just preoccupied by thoughts and I didn't wanted them to sound too harsh.

"I mean.." but he interrupted me "I thought we should go there together so I came to pick you up" "Oh, sorry for sounding harsh I didn't meant too" "It's ok princess" Yeah, that is how he is, he never looses his cool, always happy and smiling, just perfect, he is too good for this world.

"Sorry Duke, but I'm want to go alone after all this is my first meeting with everyone." I replied with a smile. "Okay, then I will wait for you there." "Hmm"

After taking a shower, I entered my walk-in-closet, A black dress was hanging there. I removed the hanger and wore it. After getting ready I went downstairs. Dean was already waiting for me to come down.

"Boss we should leave." "Yeah, lets go Dean"

Mr. Black's mansion is in the outskirts of city it will take nearly an hour for us to reach there. But still this hour feels like months, I don't know why but I want to reach there as soon as possible.

"Hello Mr. Black, yes I've arrived." I informed Mr. Black after getting out of the car.

I will get to see you Zain in just a couple of minutes, I'm very excited to see your reaction. I know you will be shocked but will you be disappointed or will you be happy to see me after 4 years.

"Ms.Ruth" 

"Mr. Black" I replied with a smile. 

 Luciano Black is the most powerful one among us but he is very kind towards me or should I say us, me and Zain. I have seen him many times with my father and Zain's father. Back then when I was a kid, he used to bring chocolates for me whenever he came to meet my father, even after that accident he supported me a lot.

"You are looking like a princess V" He complimented me with a sweet smile. "Thank you so much Uncle Black" I replied. "Lets go, everyone inside is waiting for you" He gestured towards the front door. "Yeah" I took a deep breath and went inside.

"Attention Everyone, this is Vanessa Ruth, the only daughter of the Ruth family,she was the new member I was talking about." He introduced to the crowd of people, everyone was excited to see me. Some faces were new to me, some were giving me bright smile but there was one person who doesn't had any emotion on his face, he was too shocked to see me here, more than I ever expected. 

"Hello everyone, I'm the only heiress of the Ruth family and I will be taking over my father's business" And with this sentence he went pale.

Zain's POV:

Today is the meeting of mafias, a big day for everyone of us, we just meet talk business and enjoy. Just for one day we forget all the rivals.

"You know today someone new is joining us I'm excited to meet her" Her?? We usually don't have any female in a meeting. "Her?? Are you high or something dude" " No,I'm in my senses I too was shocked that's why I'm excited now."

 "Whatever"I replied in an uninterested tone because I am not interested in some female mafia as long as she is not my Vane. And Vane, she never wanted to be in this dark world, so there's no reason for me to be concerned.

"Are you listening to me Zain?" he shouted through the phone, "Yes I am,  Are you planning to make me deaf or something" "You were the one who was dreaming of making babies with someone..." I hang up before he starts all his blabbering.I already have a lot of work to do then get ready for the meeting.

After reaching there, I talked about business to some Mafia bosses and after that went to drink something as Mr. Black told us that there's still some time because the new member haven't arrived yet. I don't know why but I'm feeling anxious, there's something today which is not okay.

I was just fiddling with the glass of wine.

" Attention Everyone, this is Vanessa Ruth, the only daughter of the Ruth family,she was the new member I was talking about." I was way too shocked to react, I thought I was hallucinating. 

But then I heard her voice,the one which I was dying to hear but not in this way. I never wanted this to happen.

"Hello everyone,I'm the only heiress of the Ruth family and I will be taking over my father's business."
