9:46

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

I keep doing this. I carefully manoeuvre my way through the pile of people who were obviously passed out. The floors were littered with bottles, scattered ashtrays and music still playing but not as loud as the night before.

I looked at the people on the floor; I party with them every night but I just wonder what brought them here, what kinds of lives they have outside here. I don't think I even know their names.

I check for my phone in my pocket and texted Rae to come pick me up. I fix my hair before grabbing the door handle when someone it opened from the other side hitting me in the head, adding to the already numbing pain there.

"Ouch." I groan, hoping it wouldn't bruise. I had work today.

"Sorry, did that hurt?" The voice was a male's. I hadn't risen my head yet to match it with a face.

"No shit," I was terribly late so I didn't have time to argue. I slipped past him, holding onto my head when he grabbed my wrist making me even more fustrated. I looked up. He was tall, brown eyes, short hair that was shaved on the sides. He had on a blue cashmere sweater with black jeans. I was relieved when he let go of my hand, but he pointed at my head with an apologetic look.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you, it was my fault."

I was confused because he seemed genuinely worried. I felt guilty.

"Um, seriously, it's fine."

It was silent after that so I just walked away awkwardly, thinking what he could want here at this time.

I sat on the curb waiting for Rae. I heard low groaning behind, turning to see a clearly hungover guy stumbling across the driveway but before I turned away something caught my eye. It's was Nick and the guy I met earlier and they looked fustrated with each other.

I had been hanging out here for 3 months and I could swear this guy's never been here once but he seemed to know Nick. Nick always had all his friends over, or at least that's what he says.

I hadn't stopped staring until Nick walked away and the other guy caught me staring. I quickly turned and sighed loudly as the familiar car pulled up and quickly got in avoiding any eye contact with the stranger.

We started moving. I looked up and immediately smiled at him but he didn't smile back. He was still looking ahead with a strange look on his face.

"You're late again, you know?" And my smile immediately dropped.

"Sorry. its a long story." I pursed my lips awkwardly.

He didn't say a word. "Besides, you know it helps me," I said, playfully poking his sides trying to lighten the mood.

He glanced at me and smiled a little.

"Elle, you know I love you, right?"

I had the feeling nothing good would follow after.
