They said they would take care of me.
They said he could visit.
That's what they said when Rae signed me in at the desk.
After he said goodbye ànd promised to be back, they shoved me into a room.
I didn't see him for six months.

I looked around the kitchen.
Nick was shouting at Dave.
Why was Nick shouting if it wasn't true?
Could he get Rae to come back for me?
What if?
They were of capable of handing me over to them without my say again.
I believed Dave.
Why would he lie to me? We just met. What would he gain other than the satisfaction from seeing some stranger break down into pieces so small they couldn't be seen under a microscope? Nothing.
I had to leave.
If I run right now they would catch me.
So I called him
"Nick." That name held so much promise.
They stopped shouting now.
He looked nervous.
"Can we please leave?" I wanted him to believe me.
I tugged on his hand to seem desperate.
I couldn't look at Dave.
I dragged Nick out to the living room.
Thinking of a way to escape without causing a scene, I grabbed a vodka bottle and couple of shot glasses and we both smirked.
I took the first the shot.
He said he didn't want to get drunk.
I told him we wouldn't, that we just needed that buzz.
I took my second shot carefully making sure it didnt get to my head in a rush.
He was on his 7th shot and I was now sipping a beer.
He was a lightweight.
So I left.
A part of me wanted to run and hide but another just wanted to get this over with.
I wanted to get better, just not there.
I climbed up to his room and grabbed his car keys that were on his bed.
"What are you doing?" He stood at the door.
I turned after I had gathered some of my slowly dying confidence.
It was Dave.
"Nothing. Can you move?" I was at the door now.
"If you're leaving I want to go with you." He said, still staring over at me.
"You think I trust you?"
"I just saved your ass and it cost me my friendship."
He was right, so I agreed.
We took his car.
As we walked to his car, he turned to me.
"Maybe now you can tell me what this whole thing is about." He seemed cautious - but also curious.
I just nodded.
Maybe I could trust him after all.
