"LAILA that boy looks oddly familiar. Is he one of your friends?" Her mother asked. "It's Mike, mom."

"WHAT THE FUCK!!!" Angie yelled, causing everybody in the diner to look at her. "Sorry!" She said to the customers. "Mom let go." Laila put her mask on and walked over to the counter where Mike was. He looked at her and was surprised. She looked way different than the Laila he had in his mind.

Mike's eyes were the first thing that came to her attention. He was wearing his contacts and honestly, Laila liked them. "Hi Mike." Laila passed him a mask which he put on. "Hey, Laila."

He sounded way different and he was taller than her. Really tall in her opinion. Laila was only 5'4 along with the rest of her friends. "How'd you find this place?"

"I was driving by with my friend, Derek, and I saw you but I didn't think it was you so I parked to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me."

"Oh.. well now you know where I work. Also, you look very... different. You grew, a lot."

Mike looked down at her, "You didn't grow one inch." He joked, causing her to chuckle, "Alright now, don't get too cocky. Now, I'm gonna return to work, but here's my number. Just so we don't have to text on instagram."

"Aight. Also, where's your boyfriend?" He looked around and suddenly Kanan arrived in the diner. "Laila!" He called out as he walked into the diner. Kanan was almost the same height as Mike. Except, he was shorter by two inches. Laila never expected to see these two standing next to each other or even being able to see that Mike was taller than somebody.

"Kanan, meet my friend, Mike. Mike, meet my boyfriend, Kanan." Those couple of words stuck in Mike's mind. They shook each other's hands but Kanan knew he wasn't gonna like Mike. "Baby, lets hang out sometime." Kanan told Laila. She felt uncomfortable knowing her parents were behind her hearing how Kanan was talking. "Not now, I'm at work. Just.. text me afterwards, aight?"

Kanan groaned. He didn't like this. He felt like she was embarrassed of him, which she wasn't. She just wasn't used to showing affection to her boyfriend in front of her parents. And in front of Mike. Kanan scoffed, "Aight, whatever." He walked out the diner giving the customers who looked at him dirty looks.

Mike rolled his eyes along with Laila. "That's yo boyfriend? Man he a whole clown!" Mike said, which made Laila's parents laugh in the back. "Now i remember you!" Laila's mother called out.

Her father came as well and Mike was shocked at how young they were. He never knew them or saw them but Laila told them about him from time to time. "Y'all look young as hell." Mike complimented them. "They're only 35."

"Damn i thought you guys were like.. 20!" Mike said making them laugh. "I like him." Laila's father added. Laila smiled at Mike. None of Laila's friends have ever made her parents laugh, so this was something new.

"How about you sit down with Laila and catch up?" Her mother offered. "Sure." Mike replied. Laila smiled awkwardly at Mike and they walked over at a nice clean table.
