"YOU'RE kidding, right? that's not actually kanan, right? ok laila i know a lot of emotions and thoughts are overflowing your head right now but please, please, please, answer this one question!"

laila looked up at him and a tear ran down her face. "that's kanan." she finally responded. mike was shocked, confused, but right now, he knew what he had to do. "laila, whatever happens, do not, i repeat, DO NOT, make a scene. first, kanan's not that worthful, second, you're more mature than that."

"mike, i know i'm mature, but i want to confront them. whether i'll make a scene or not, i don't wanna stand here and see them flirt with each other. i thought jackie was my best friend, and i thought kanan changed. i guess not, though. you know what, let's just, let's just go home, alright? i don't wanna see this happen."

mike nodded as he put his arm around her and walked her back to the car. "hey, do you wanna get some food? i'll pay for it." mike offered, but laila wasn't in the mood for anything. all she really wanted to do was to lie down in her bed and escape.

"no, mike, i don't want any food. thanks for offering though." he understood that she wanted to think about everything that had just happened but he also wanted to be there. "laila, if you want, you can always vent to me. i'm here for you."

"i hate kanan. like actually hate him. and jackie. they both tricked me. you know, when i had arguments with kanan i'd always go to angie and jackie and they'd make jokes to make me feel better and we'd talk shit about him for hours. it just hurts. i've never had friends who my parents liked, or friends who i worked at the diner with. jackie was like my sister. i'm more closer than her than i am with angie, and they both know that. i just wish today never happened. i wish i never met kanan."

a fresh breeze of wind hit laila's face as mike drove smoothly. "i don't know jackie or kanan like how you know them, but i do know that if i was in your position i'd drop them asap. they don't deserve you, and frankly you shouldn't be trying with them. you're worth way more than them."

"why doesn't it feel like it though? kanan makes me feel like i'm his side hoe and honestly, i'm beginning to think i am. jackie always motivated me and always hyped me up whenever i got a new outfit and she's told me a lot about her life. i just wanna cry myself to sleep and never wake up."

"no, don't think like that. you got us now. the other day tyee was talking about how kind you were and how funny you were and he said he wants to bond with you more. derek and everybody else likes you and jiggy says he feels like he's known you for his entire life. you know right now, they're probably not giving a shit about you while you're here giving a shit about them. don't put effort in a meaningless relationship. you didn't lose them, they lost you."

"thank you mike. really. you're probably the only one who's never gave up to make me feel better. everybody else just tells me to let it all out and go to sleep."

"that's what a real friend does. listen, i know you'll never want me me how i want you. but that's okay. i'm not gonna force you, but no matter what i'm always gonna love you."

"i love you mike, but only as a friend. i don't want to ruin what we have. i think it's better if we stay friends."
on the outside, mike understood, but in the inside, he felt sad. except, he knew he couldn't give up.

as they arrived at their apartment, laila and mike lied beside one another in his bed. she looked up at his roof and zoned out. "laila, i bought you some chipotle!" vallyk barged in and laila sat up. "i don't know what you like so i got you a big bean burrito with some salad."

laila smiled at him, "thank you vallyk." he smiled at her as she gave him a hug. she placed the bag on mike's small table beside his bed and lied back down. mike was laying down with his back facing her.

she got closer to him and he turned around. "aren't you gonna eat your food?" mike asked. laila could tell he was sad, but she didn't know what she could to do to make him feel bettter. "i'll eat it later."

the room was freezing so mike put the blanket over them and she got closer to him and he hugged her. she felt more warm now.

laila raised herself a bit higher and was very close this his lips. mike was nervous and began sweating. laila placed her lips on top of his and passionately kissed him. mike kissed her back and felt like he was in heaven.

unfortunately, the kissing came to an end because footsteps were heard so laila stopped kissing him and got up. "um, i'm sorry mike. really." she wiped her lips as she picked up her chipotle bag.

"sorry for what?" he asked. "for kissing you. i technically haven't broke up with kanan so i basically just cheated on him."

"he's literally on a date with your friend right now." laila groaned and dropped her chipotle bag and surprisingly, returned back to bed with mike. she had her back facing him but he cuddled with her which made her feel better. "just stay here with me." mike whispered into her ear.
