I was sprinting as fast I could, chasing the beautiful horse than ran by me not to long ago. The horse was far away, but I could still see its galloping figure in the distance. It turned a corner around a bundle of trees and was no longer visible. I quickened my pace, sliding around the corner when I reached it.
"How lovely (note sarcasm)."
"2 paths to take and I didn't see which one the horse went on!" I say to my self kind of annoyed.
But then I had a little "lightbulb" moment as they say, and I looked for hoof prints in the dirt. I followed them to the left path and took off down it, following the hoof imprints as I went.
Awhile later I arrived in an open meadow, and it was more magical than the place I was at before. It had grass so green, I honestly didn't think it could be any greener! It also had one tree of to the side with a little stream running by it. I kept scanning the field until I saw it.
There was the horse grazing... I could see that the horse was a boy. His black coat was gleaming in the sunlight, and I could see most of his features now. He was big, real real big. He was not skinny and not fat... And he was muscular as can be. I start to walk towards him, and his head pops up, I right away noticed his pretty white star on his forehead and the fact that his mouth was filled with grass. I giggled at how silly he looked with all that grass stuffed in his mouth. At the sound, the horse jerked back a bit, and it came to me that he had probably never had interaction with a human before. I didn't know what to do... If I walked away I might scare him. So I do what the best thing to do is...
I put my hands behind my back so that I didn't appear like a threat that could grab the horse. I don't look at the horse straight in the eye, I look more downward at the grass. I walked slowly backwards, stopping between steps. When I get far enough away, the horse puts his head back down into the grass, and I decided it was ok to turn around. I walk back to the tree by the stream, making sure to walk slow and not make any sudden movements that could scare the horse. When I finally get to the tree, I start making up my little camp.
I laid out a towel over the ground so dirt didn't get on me when I sleep. Then I laid my bag at one end to use as a pillow for the night. Next I laid a soft blanket over the towel, the soft blanket used to cover me and keep me warm at night. Lastly I lay my backpack up against the tree right next to my clothing bag.
I sat on my makeshift bed, pulling out cheese itz crackers and water, taking a big swig of the water and really chowing down on the cheese itz. After I finished I realize I had been wearing the same cloths for the last 24 hours. It was cooler that day, so I decided on putting on some warmer clothes.
I was about to change but realized I was out in the open. It felt awkward but I knew I was the only one out here. Well, except for the horse, but he wasn't looking. I decided on wearing a baggy t-shirt with a horse on it (similar to the one grazing right now), some black soft sweatpants, and my Nike shoes. I changed and redid my hair into kind of a messy bun, and put all my clothes back in the bag.
I again sat on my bed up against the tree, bringing my legs up to my face. I rested my chin on my knees and watched the beautiful horse walk around and eat the grass.
"He's so gorgeous" I whispered to myself.
I smiled remembering that I had never been so close to a horse before, and I had never seen one this beautiful either. I whipped out my iPhone and started snapping pictures of the beautiful boy, and instantly made him my new screensaver.
"Hm, you deserve a name big guy" I point out to him, even though he can't hear me or understand me.
I start thinking of possibilities in my head.
"Timmy? Nah."
"Jensen? To babyish."
"Marcus? To human-like."
"But what about Hoku? Star in Hawaiian!"
"Hoku"... I whisper.
The horse lifted his head up and bobbed it up and down, just like he was agreeing to his new name. Hoku was the perfect name for him. He did have a white star on his forehead after all...
★Authors Note: Yay, chapter 4 has arrived! Here you get a better description of the horse, and yes it is the same horse she saw running in the woods awhile before. I have a kind of cute bonding moment planned for them both in the next chapter so stay tuned for that! You gotta love the cute human-and-horse moments hehe. :)
I updated twice yesterday since I had a lot of time on my hands, and of course I just updated this chapter, so I am not going to update for a few days! The reasoning is I noticed my last 2 chapters haven't gotten many views yet and I wanted them to get more views before I update again. Not because I care about my view amount, it's because I want everyone reading the book to catch up with the chapters before I just keep updating and updating if that makes any since. So I'm going to wait until the last 2 chapters and this chapter reach 30-40 views, so that everyone can get caught up with the story.
If you haven't already, please go read this story from the beginning, and please comment! I love getting comments and will be sure to reply to you all! :) And of course if you vote I will appreciate that as well! This book has been fun to write so far, and I would love to get feedback about how you guys are liking it!
Ok, about to get ready to wind down for bed, so I'll end this authors note now. Make sure you go read my last chapters and this one, and I hope you enjoy them! <3
Night my fabulous munchkins!★
