Unfortunately, it was Friday for the Gilmore Girls and Friday meant Friday night dinner with their Grandmother. Ellouise did care deeply for her grandmother but never enjoyed the constant attitude that reminded her of her mother. Rory and Ellouise sat across from each other and El tried to pull her cousins shoes off from under the table with her feet, making the pair giggle which prompted a cold scare from Emily Gilmore. “How's the meal?” she asked as she cut into a pepper on her plate and looked between the 3 girls sat before her.

“Tasty,” Rory complimented as she ate a mouthful.

“Very tasty. New cook?” Lorelai questioned as she devoured the food before her as though she had been starving for weeks. Ellouise held back her laugh as her aunt's indigestion kicked in and she ate her food at a slower pace to not suffer the same fate.

“Yes, Marisella. She's introduced us to some wonderful dishes so charmingly specific to her native country, ” Emily smiled as she dabbed her lips with a napkin. It reminded Ellouise of a queen sitting on her throne when watching her grandmother, always so polite and poised. It made her want to puke.

“What country is she from?” Lorelai asked her mother with curiosity even when knowing that the woman didn’t care enough to remember.

“One of those little ones next to Mexico.”

Muttering under her breath, Ellouise grumbled, “How charmingly specific.” Emily snapped a stare at the girl before they continued the conversation.

“Too bad Grandpa's not here. He likes weird food,” Rory sighed which brought El back into reality. She nodded in agreement before taking a sip of her soda which fizzed in her mouth making her tongue tingle slightly.

“Yeah, where's he eating his weird food tonight? Argentina? Morocco?” Lorelai listed as she thought of every foreign country she could.

“Akron.”

“Ohio?” Ellouise replied with a rather disappointed and scrunched up face.

Nodding, Emily sighed, “Yes.”

“Get out of here.” Lorelai's remark made Ellie laugh but Emily was not impressed in the slightest.

“I will not get out of here,” she flung back at her daughter, absolutely outraged.

“No Mom, I didn't mean really get out of here, I mean…”

Rory cut her mother off before she could explain, “Why is Grandpa in Akron?”

“I don't know,” a depressed sigh left Emily which made Ellouise feel bad her grandmother that was always left behind while her husband worked. It felt familiar to the girl. A feeling that she’d never wish upon anyone else.

“It was just a saying,” Lorelai explained in a mutter even though nobody was paying attention to her

“They sent him to deal with some problem with their local office down there,” Emily Gilmore developed as she informed her granddaughter and completely ignored her daughter.

“A saying, you know, like 'save me' or 'get me out of here'. Things like that,” Lorelai rambled to herself while a whole other conversation went on around her.

“Lorelai, would you like me to put a mirror in front of you so you can look at yourself while you have this conversation?” Emily finally acknowledged her daughter with a smart remark that Ellouise had to remember for future situations.

“Sorry, Dad's in Akron,” she proceeded, and listened to what Emily had to say.

"Yes. The amenities are atrociously lacking. He had to eat at a coffee shop last night. The whole thing's terribly insulting. He's miserable," the eldest Gilmore in the room shook her head in shame as she disapproved of the situation her husband was in.
