The trio of girls wandered into Emily and Richard Gilmore's house to hear muffled yelling. "That doesn't sound good," Ellouise grumbled as they walked up to the staircase. Her grandmother and grandfather stood on the stairs arguing and shouting at each other.

"That's no good," Rory sighed.

"I know I wish I had popcorn," Lorelai smirked as she watched her parents have it out with each other.

"Mom," Rory protested as the couple stormed back up the stairs.

"Shh, Incoming," Lorelai watched eagerly as her mother started to list all the events she had missed out on within the past month.

"Maybe we should leave," her daughter suggested quietly.

"Are you kidding? We've got dinner theatre here," the mother smiled as Emily followed Richard with a tape recorder.

"Having actual dinner would be nice," Ellouise sighed as her stomach growled.

"Say the tea thing again!" Emily demanded as she held up the tape recorder. "Speak louder would you? I'm not sure how good this microphone is."

"Oh," Richard sighed as he finally saw the three girls watching the theatrics.

"Brava! Encore!" Lorelai cheered and clapped. "I'm sorry but does Terence McNally know about you? Get me the phone!" she joked as her parents looked at her stunned.

A knock sounded on the front door and seconds later, Esther and Jonathan Wilkins wandered into the room. "Mom! Dad!" Ellouise smiled as they entered the room. She ran over to them and gave them a tight hug that neither of them reciprocated.

"Ellouise," Esther smiled down at her daughter.

"Hey, E," Lorelai waved at her older sister while she judged her silently in her head.

"Richard! Emily!" Ellouise's father beamed at his parents in law. "How's the company?" he asked Richard, instantly getting back to business.

El hung her head down as they spoke about their companies because he would never show that kind of passion when talking about his daughter.

They all sat down at the dinner table and waited for the food. "So, Lorelai," Esther began as she took a sip of her wine. "How's the Inn?"

"Oh just great," she smiled, excited to talk about her work.

"Why do you still work when you're married to that Mr. Madina?" she questioned condescendingly.

"Mom," Ellouise tried to stop her mother.

"Max and I are no longer together," Lorelai replied quickly and bluntly. "Not that you would know, you tart," she whispered to herself, only loud enough for Rory and Ellouise to hear.

"Too bad," Esther sighed as a plate of food was placed in front of her. "You need to settle down, Lor."

"Thanks, E. I really appreciate your concern," Lorelai rolled her eyes as she cut into her chicken breast.

By the time they had all finished dinner, Jonathan wiped his mouth with a napkin and sighed. "Well, we better be heading off."

"Dad, we haven't had dessert yet," Ellouise looked up at her father.

"Yes but, Ellouise, we have traveled from New York," he cocked his head as he spoke to his daughter, pressuring her into agreeing.

"And we don't want you getting fat now do we?" Esther smiled as she eyed her daughter up and down. "I swear Lorelai, you feed these girls too much," she rolled her eyes as she stood up, pulling her daughter up with her. Esther definitely took after her mother with her sly comments.
