The elevator doors opened to the third floor of the building, and Vivian sashayed through them. The tips of her fingers grazed the wall as she strutted. Her blonde hair swayed behind her as she walked to the room where the all-day meeting would be held. Adin, Tiana, the other officials, and worst of all Blagden would be there. She had decided earlier to look her best today. She had run to her office on the top floor and spent an ample amount of time putting on mascara and ruby red lipstick. She wanted Blagden to want her, to need her. If she could not have him, at least she could make him regret his mistake. Leaving her was a mistake, the biggest one he could make at that. She would make sure of it.
Vivian opened the meeting door and looked around the room. She had gotten there early to set up the holographic presentation before anyone else showed up. She paced at the front of the room rambling on to herself the different lines she had memorized. The last thing she wanted to do was make a fool of herself in-front of Blagden. Embarrassment never made anyone want to make-out with someone.
She looked up, and her heart started racing when she heard footsteps heading towards the door. Luckily, it was just Adin and she let out a sigh of relief.
"How are you feeling?" Adin asked casually as he took a seat. He opened the hologram tablet in front of him and opened up to the meetings agenda.
"Good, why do you ask?" Vivian's voice was defensive as she eyed him.
Adin finally looked up at Vivian when he heard the defensive tone she took, "I just meant because of Juninth, that's all. You do not have to talk about it Vivian, if you do not want to."
Juninth, Vivian had almost forgotten. She relieved herself of her defensive stance, "oh, yeah. I am fine Adin."
He looked her up and down, "You really want this to go well, don't you?"
Vivian pursed her lips and shrugged, "You could say that." To be honest, her mind was more on impressing Blagden than getting the officials to correspond with her plans.
Adin nodded as a few more officials walked in and took their seats. They followed suit and opened up their tablets to go over the presentation and information.
After a few more minutes everyone was in the room, except Blagden. Vivian thought it over and decided to move on ahead without him. She cleared her throat to grab the room's attention and stood tall in-front of everyone, "We're moving into phase two tomorrow. We've agreed upon starting and are heading into the very beginning of populating the city and running to success. To start these provisions the testing of the elites must take place. Through this testing we will decide from the population on earth who is deemed worthy and who is not. There is, of course, a rank and file system. At the top-" Vivian stopped talking as her eyes fell upon Blagden as he came in. He was late to the meeting, as usual. Her heart started to race.
The room turned their attention from Vivian to Blagden as they noticed her pause. Everyone's eyes were on Blagden, but he was staring directly at Vivian. He bit the inside of his cheek and sat down coolly. He kept his head down towards the table and averted looking at her again.
Vivian cleared her throat once more, "This is beyond acceptable to be late to these meetings. If it happens again the consequences will be burdened onto your state." She felt her cheeks flush up with anger and anxiety. She did not even want to look at him. The rest of the presentation would be hellfire.
"Won't happen again," Blagden did not make eye contact with Vivian and instead attached himself to his holographic screen.
Vivian turned away from him and started to talk again, this time her voice was not as strong, "As I was saying, at the top of the pyramid is the elites. These are citizens deemed at the top of their class. This could be in military, medical, scientific, industrial, teaching, or natural affairs. Each category has a series of jobs the elites can choose through to fit their needs. There will also be middle class workers in each field. Anyone who does not pass the mental or physical peaks of the tests, will be eliminated. They will be used to test experiments or do jobs no one else wants. To avoid rogues and rebels we will cap their capacity and kill off extras."
