Tank Borne

Part 17: an attack

I hope whoever reads this likes the story. So far I'm having a blast writing it and this is my first Youtja fan fiction! Anyway enjoy and remember, Stay blood thirsty!

Liana fell asleep on Synsyn's lap so he took her to his hammock and kept her company and warm when the fire died. It was getting cold at night and he knew they'd have to find a more solid ground for camp. Like a cave or build a shelter he didn't know but he knew they could t stay out in the elements like this forever. He could smell frost in the air and it was making the spiders desperate for winter food. Heck all predators lurking about were gathering meat for a coming winter.

Speaking of predators Synsyn stayed up all night to watch over Liana. He felt protective over her and even more so that she opened up to him and told him about his kind and her past. It made him feel special, and kind of odd inside because he had no past or one he knew of. Why was he born from a tank? Was he the last of his kind? Could they not mate or mate anymore? Lots of questions rose up about him but he couldn't worry about that right now. He was busy glaring holes into the glowing set of many sets of eight eyes. That's right.

There were spiders crawling up from the ground and into the trees where they were checking out the new creatures in their area. Synsyn would quietly growl and spread his mandibles to show the spiders that he wasn't to be messed with. But the momentary truce would of course end and soon. One spider started circling around the trees setting up a web around the camp.

Not good. Syn thought.

He growled for that one to stop but it didn't mind him this time. Like it calling him out on a bluff.

This made him chuff into Liana's hair to wake her. She stirred and was about to ask what was up when Synsyn covered her mouth which caused her to snap her eyes open and glare daggers at him until she stopped and blushed noticing she was in his hammock. Then many noises made her look around but she couldn't see in the dark. She nodded to Syn that she got the point to stay quiet and he let her mouth go. She looked around but saw nothing while Synsyn using his vision, he could see every heat signature.

There were six spiders now. Like over grown garden spiders. Some were yellow, brown and white striped while others were black with red stripes going down the back of the abdomen. All had large abdomens and shiny bodies like a black widows.

A cloud moved and the moons poked through the trees and Liana got a glimpse of a couple of the spiders. They started moving in from the trees.
She gulped and Synsyn tried his best to whisper, "you stay. I'll fight with axe, be quick."

She nodded and whispered back, "be careful. I can't see how many."

Synsyn smiled and kept at one spider, the smaller one who was being brave and dumb coming too close . He grabbed it on the way down by the head squishing some of its eight eyes then killing it when he smashed its head into the ground. Now all spiders eyes were glowing in the moonlight looking at him and that's when they moved in. Synsyn had his axe lodged into the tree where his hammock was. Easily he pulled it out and swung hitting a large spider knocking her long front two legs making her scurry backwards out of the fight. Others tried jumping on Syn to overpower him but he dodged them and twirled around holding the blade out towards them and came in twirling fast.
Like a spinning saw he cut two down and then a third shot a web right at him hitting his left leg pinning it to the ground. He smiled and looked at its heat signature then cut the web at his feet. Meanwhile the spider was making its way down to him and jumped to attack him by force but he spread out his feet and swung his axe slicing it in half letting the two halves of the spider fly by.
The big one out of site that left for another big spider that was just in the trees. He couldn't find it though and looked up at Liana and asked, "you alright?"

She peaked out from the hammock and said, "yeah but damn was that all of them?"

He looked around for the two missing spiders but still didn't see them and looked up, "two left. Maybe not wanting to join their comrades." He laughed but then was tugged into the ground by a web that was dragging him reaper into the ground by the spider who left and didn't join the fight. The one with the cut off front two legs was above Liana watching her now wanting to regain strength by taking down what looked like easy prey. Liana heard the movement above her and kept out of the hammock to grab her rifle that was left leaning on the tree where her hammock was. She grabbed it but was knocked over by something and blacked out from impact.

Synsyn however used his axe to cut the web at his feet and was currently trying to cut his feet free when the spider that dragged him turned and hissed. Syn barked and growled back a challenge then cut the last of the web off his feet. He found himself in a nest of some sort and it was big enough for him to stand and fight the giant spider. This one was as tall as him and made for good sport for him to fight.

They'd circle each other then attack and break apart. This happened a few times which left the spider missing all its legs but one as Synsyn would cut one or two off with each pass.
Now the spider could only drag itself towards him and try to swing and impale Syn with its remaining leg. Once it cut Syn on the right shoulder when he bumped into the cave wall but this caused him to rage and charge the spider who raised its leg at him but missed when he dodged then leapt onto the air throwing his axe straight into the spider's brain killing it with a crunch when the axe cut into its skeleton. Syn retrieved his axe but heard movement but when he jumped or the spider he stood tall and proud only to be caught off guard he what was standing in the tunnel he was dragged through.

He could see the heat signature and smell spiders blood on it. It was a Youtja, one of his kind found him but what made Synsyn growl was he could smell Liana on him.
