After their discussion, Hiccup decided to leave the cliff and head back to the village. With Merida's flaming hair, they will surely be spotted by the vikings easily, which was why she was left in the cliff. While waiting, Merida thought of things she would say to the king and queen. For sure, they will not listen. But she have to try and she needs proof. The problem is, if she acted later, Lord Macintosh might devise a greater plan to bring the kingdom down.

Still in her deep thoughts, she did not notice that Hiccup was arriving until a loud screech shook her nerves awake. Grabbing her bow and quiver, she went out the cave and saw Hiccup wearing the leathered armor from when she was captured. There was a basket on the dragon's paws that he dropped when they landed. Hiccup unloaded himself from his dragon, removing his helmet. He fixed his hair as he walked towards Merida with a smile.

He handed her a black cloak. Merida took it, wearing it over her shoulders. She let it drape on her back. Her thick cloak smelled like Hiccup's house: wood and fire, which she weirdly remembers.

"I have a gift for you." He said. "Well, it's not technically a gift since it's actually yours."

Hiccup went over to his dragon and showed Merida her bow and quiver filled with arrows.

"Thank you, Hiccup!" She exclaimed, throwing Hiccup a tight hug.

Hiccup's eyes widened. He could feel his heart beat getting faster and louder. Merida shyly let go, surprised with what she had done.

"I, uhh... I'm sorry." Merida said with a blush.

"It's okay. You can hug me again if you want." Hiccup answered jokingly, his arms out wide. But inside, he could still feel his heart beating loudly.

Merida punched his chest. He let out a grunt. Hiccup's dragon let out a sound that seems to be a laugh which made Merida turn. She faced the dragon. The dragon  stopped laughing and gave her what seems to be a scowl.

"Toothless, we've talked about this." Hiccup said. "She did not take mom. She will help us save mom."

"Your dragon doesn't like me." Merida said, pulling Hiccup between the dragon and her.

"He's just a little weird sometimes. He usually does this to new people. One time he made Astrid-" He stopped. Toothless gave him a knowing look before placing his head near Hiccup as if comforting him.

Merida walked over in front of Hiccup and held his left shoulder. She gave him a comforting smile whilst Hiccup returned a sad smile. Toothless then sniffed Merida's hair which made her flinch.

"See," Hiccup said. "I told you he likes you."

With that, Hiccup mounted Toothless before handing out his hand for Merida. Merida dropped the bow that she had made and slung over her shoulder the bow that Hiccup had retrieved for her. She then removed the quiver that Hiccup had made for her and emptied it, but she did not let it go. She then clasped her quiver on her waist before looking over at Hiccup who seems to have retracted his hand.

"Hey, where's my hand?" Merida asked.

"I felt stupid with my hand sticking out while you fiddle with your stuff." He frowned.

Merida rolled her eyes. She looked over at Toothless who seemed to be relaxed. She was still hesitating, afraid to ride the dragon. What if the dragon decided to drop her? Or what if the dragon decided he did not like her and eat her the moment he gets?

"Are you sure he's safe to ride?" Merida asked, still fixing her eyes on Toothless.

"Do you trust me?" He asked.
