"Edaline? Mom?" Sophie looked at her phone as she spoke. School had ended, yet here she was. Sadly, the bus had left without her, and now her mom wouldn't pick up on the phone. Looking around, she considered her options. 'Should I walk home, which would take over an hour, or...'

"Hey Foster!"

'... or that.' Sophie finished her thought and turned to see Keefe, waving wildly next to what seemed to be his car.

"Foster!" Keefe yelled once again. He grinned. "Need a ride home?"

Sophie weighed her options once again. Seeing no other way, she reluctantly agreed. "Sure Keefe. I missed my ride anyway."

"Great!" Keefe ran over to Sophie and dragged her over to his car.

Resisting slightly before getting in the car, Sophie asked, "Are you abducting me?"

Keefe snorted. "No. Why would I do that?"

"Just making sure."

"Uh Huh. Sure." Keefe pointed to the passenger seat. "Hop in!"

Hesitantly, Sophie sat down, while Keefe ran to the other side and got in the driver's seat.

"For some reason, I don't trust your driving skills..." Sophie thought out loud.

Pouting, Keefe whined, "Nonsense! I am the master of driving. As well as hair." He started the engines up.

The drive was silent, except for Sophie pointing Keefe in the right direction. Turns out, he lived really close, about 2 blocks away. Within walking distance, making Sophie even more unsure about her decision of letting Keefe help her out.

As the car slowed down in front of Sophie's driveway, Keefe looked at her. "There you go!"

"Thanks..." Sophie said. "I'm grateful." And she was. She got out of the car.

Grinning, Keefe got out of the car and walked over to Sophie. "I'll walk the beautiful young lady to the door, no?"

At this, Sophie blushed. "Uh... y-yeah. Thanks a lot." She nervously pulled out 3 eyelashes. Looking back up at Keefe, she said, "You know, you didn't have to do this."

Keefe turned his head. "Of course I had too. I couldn't just leave poor, poor, Foster stranded at school." He ran his fingers through his hair. "Hey, Foster?"

"Hm?"

"Do you mind if I ask a question?"

"No?" Sophie was curious about what he'd have to say.

He pointed at her hair. "About your streak. What colour is it?"

Huh? Sophie was confused. Did he not hear? "Uh..." Looking down at her shoes, she mumbled the answer. "I don't have one."

Looking back up at Keefe, she expected a frown, or at least a confused look. Instead, his eyes were brighter than ever, his expression free of the humour that seemed to live with him. Just pure excitement.

"Keefe? Are you alright? You look... extremely excited."

Keefe snapped out of his daze. His face turned slightly red. "Uh, yeah. Sorry 'bout that."

"Sure..." Sophie then set her gaze on Keefe's hair. He didn't have a streak visible, but that didn't mean that he didn't have one. A lot of people liked to hide their streaks. "Well... I should get going now. I mean, my parents are probably worried sick."

Once again grinning, Keefe answered, "Sure thing, Foster." He raced back to his car. Right before he left, he shouted, "See you tomorrow, Foster!"

Shaking her head, Sophie turned to her front door. The doors were coincidentally painted gold and blue, but Sophie didn't think too much about it. Pushing it open, Sophie shouted, "Mom! I'm home!"

Edaline came rushing to the door. "Oh dear, I thought you got lost! It's good to see you. What took so long?"

"Sorry mom," Sophie said. "I just got caught in the crowd. Missed the bus. That's all."

Raising an eyebrow, Edaline asked, "So... how did you get home then?"

At this, Sophie blushed. She couldn't help it. She just... blushed.

Of course, her mom just had to notice. "Oh..." she said slyly. "It's a boy, isn't it?"

When Sophie looked away, her mother just scooped her up in a hug. "Oh, that's wonderful! My baby's finally growing up!!"

"Mom!" Sophie whined. "It's not like that! He was just helping me out!"

Giggling, Edaline moved back to her cooking. "That's the first step to getting a boyfriend, no?"

Sophie groaned. She should've known that her mom would act like this. Now all she could do was play along. Yipee! Plus, it wasn't like she actually liked Keefe or anything. The way his eyes always lit up and how often his smirk spread across his face, he was just begging for attention. Nope. Sophie was sure she didn't have any feelings in any way towards Keefe. And she was certain that it would stay that way.

Or... at least she hoped it would stay that way.
