"Soooo..." Dex said, dragging the o's in the word, grinning like a mad man. "Do you like him?"
Sophie had just told Dex about what had happened the day before. And was seriously regretting it.
"So? Do you like him?"
"It's not like that Dex! Come on, we just met!"
"Mhm," Dex mused, obviously skeptical.
Sophie groaned. All last night, she couldn't help but think about Keefe, and about what her mom had said. Boyfriend? Couldn't be possible. She didn't have a streak, and Keefe probably had- wait... No. That wasn't possible. Sophie was pretty sure she was the only one without a streak. Unless...
Sophie reddened at the thought, but she quickly batted it away. Of course, it didn't go unnoticed by her cousin.
"Ooooo~! Someone's blushing~ Care to elaborate?"
Sophie spun around and promptly hit Dex upside the head with her bag. "W-what? No! Dex, just NO!"
Dex turned back around, still grinning, and Sophie swore she could hear him mumble, "Project Sokeefe is a go."

"I'm so sorry, I swear, it was an accident Madame Cadence." Sophie was wringing her hands at the back of her french classroom.
Madame Cadence, a tall woman with raven black hair and a beady stare, was currently rubbing the bridge of her nose in annoyance. "Ms. Foster, this is no excuse for being late. Know that I do not tolerate this type of behaviour. Detention at lunch."
Sophie sagged, holding in her groan. 'Great. Only the second day of school, and I've already landed myself in detention.' Turning her attention back to Madame Cadence, she whispered, "Yes Madame. Sorry Madame."
Throughout french class, Sophie was losing all hope of getting on Madame Cadence's good side. She was a natural at languages, but the amount of effort she had to put just to put a small smile on her teacher's face was exhausting.
---
"Uh..." Sophie groaned as she dragged herself to the cafeteria. Halfway there, she realized that she had detention, so she reversed direction towards the correct room.
"Ms. Foster, finally decided to join us? Please take a seat next to Mr. Sencen." Mr. Conley, the general science teacher at school stood at the front of the room, gesturing for Sophie to take a seat.
Sophie groaned. Nope. Not today. Nonetheless, she took a seat next to the one and only, Keefe Sencen.
"So... how did the Mysterious Miss F get in detention?" Keefe grinned, his eyebrows cocked up as Sophie sat down.
Sophie sighed. "None of your business. And what's with the name? Mysterious Miss F? Really?"
Shrugging, Keefe responded with, "You're mysterious! There's so much about you that I still don't know yet!"
Swallowing, Sophie went over her thoughts from the morning. Maybe if she just... "Hey Keefe?"
"Yeah Foster?"
"Uh..." Sophie paused, choosing her words carefully. "About yesterday, you seemed kinda happy about me not having a streak. Uh... may I know why?" Right after the words left her mouth, she started regretting it.
Keefe looked down, that signature smirk no longer tugging at his lips. "It's... complicated," he managed.
"I'm listening if you're up for it."
Keefe turned back to Sophie, a sad smile on his face. The first sincere smile that Sophie had actually seen from him. The biggest prankster at school, the trouble maker, was sad?
"Not today. Maybe some other time."
Sophie, sobered at the fact of seeing Keefe so... un-Keefe like, sat in her chair, continuing to do the task they were set out to do in detention.
