Back where I belong (lumity au)

Chapter one

Luz's pov:
I yawned and sat up. "Today's the day" I whispered to myself. It's been a whole year since I've been back to the magic realm and I was so ready to go back. I had been emailing all my friends over the year I was gone. Except one, Amity. Her parents wouldn't let her take the Chrome Book I bought her because "the Blights don't associate with humans" but it was ok because from time to time we chatted through Willow. For some reason I was so excited to see Amity, much more excited then the other people I'd be seeing. I wasn't quite sure why though.

     I grabbed the bag I had packed the night before and hugged my mom goodbye then kissed her on the cheek. My style had changed a bit since last time I was in the magic realm. I now wore baggy cuffed mom jeans, doc martens, and a open silk shirt sleeved button down over a white crop top, my mom tugged at my outfit trying to make it straight.

   "Oh I just love you so much mija," she hugged me tightly making me gasp for air. "I love you too mama, now if you don't let go of me there won't be a me to love" I said in a raspy voice. "Sorry," she apologized. "Now, I'll visit you twice a week and call you every night, ok?" She nodded holding both my hands. "I love you!" I assured my mom running out the door and shutting it behind me. Once I was outside I rustled around in my bag for my key. Once I found it I observed the world around me, the blue sky, the birds, the old guy singing on the sidewalk. "I'm gonna miss this place," I sighed.

     I walking through the woods and found the rusty shack that I went through before, I took the last looks at the human realm and stuck the key in slowly turning it. It lit up and transformed into a golden door with an eye on it, I stepped inside the door closing it behind me and looking around seeing the orange-purple sky, the birds, my fantasy got cut off by a bird spitting spiders in my face. "Ah just as I remember" I laughed wiping the spiders off my face. I walked towards the market and looked around. A faint "stop by to get some well priced elixir only 500 snails!" Cooed in the distance, I looked towards the
sound and saw a small demon wearing a top hat, glasses and a tux I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

    I started towards Eda's stand and sped up as I noticed the sign saying 'Eda the Owl Lady's Human Stuff" I giggled at the name. I got stopped my a cute voice yelling "LUZ YOUR BACK!!" And a excited squeal. King jumped into my arms and cuddled me close to him. "Hey boo boo buddy" I lovingly nuzzled him. Eda looked over noticing us and pulled herself into the hug and ruffled my hair. "I missed you kid" she said hugging me tightly. Eda cut off the hug and grabbed king off of me. "Go meet up with your friends, I know they miss you. Besides I have some business to finish" I set down my bag in the back of the tent and started walking in the direction of Hexside. I looked back and noticed Eda playing 'Hexes Hold Em' with a customer to decide how much an item will be sold for. I giggled and walked away.

     It was about time my friends would be getting out from school so I sped up my walking a bit to make sure I was there right when they got out. I didn't tell any of my friends I was coming back because I wanted it to be a surprise. I noticed the school coming into view so I sped up a bit more. Right when I got there the bell rang. I noticed a familiar face barreling through the door. My heart stopped beating. There was the green haired witch, yet now her hair was down and draped right to her shoulders. She wore her normal school uniform. She looked...beautiful. I couldn't tell what I was feeling, but I knew it wasn't what I felt for my other friends. Maybe it was just because I hadn't talked to her for so long?

    I felt a rock form in my stomach as I tried to catch up with her. Once I got close enough I thought of what to say. I could hug her, no that's dumb, I could- you know what screw it. I tapped on her shoulder "WHAT?" She yelled, she froze up at the sight of me. Her body became un-tense again and she dropped her shoulders. She poked me and pulled out her scroll and started typing something. Her eyes widened and she looked up poking me again. "Oh my gods" she whispered. "OH MY GODS" she tackled me to the ground and hugged me. "Looks like someone missed me" I said crushed under her, suffocating. "Sorry" she got up and grabbed my hand helping me up also. "I thought you were another one of Gus's stupid illusions" she rubbed the back of her neck blushing. "Nope, all me" I smiled. "So where's Gus and Willow?" "Oh they're on a camping trip with Willow's dads." She replied. I nodded in response. I noticed Amity's eyes were tearing up as she pulled me into another hug. "I really missed you" she started happy crying. My cheeks heated up, "I missed you to am" I assured her.

      We talked for almost an hour about how life had been while we weren't around each other. "Wow look at the time, wanna come to the owl house and eat dinner?" I asked Amity. "If Eda would be ok with it," she responded. 

     We walked back to the owl house talking the whole way. "You're back Luz! Hoot hoot, I missed having a friend" hooty frowned and continued, "oh it's you hoot hoot I forgot about you." He gave a dirty look to Amity (well the dirtiest look an owl can make) Amity looked mad but shook it off. "I'm gonna kill that fucking bird someday" she whispered walking into the house. "Hey girls" Eda said mixing something. "Whatcha makin'?" I asked. "Pizza" Eda responded in an Italian accent. Amity and I laughed.

      About a half an hour later we started eating. Kind stretched and made a sour face "you didn't save me any for my after nap snack" he whined. "I'm not dealing with you right now, I'm out. Amity you can stay over if you want I've got some stuff to do and won't be home until late" she grabbed her staff and went out the door leaving the two girls there.
