Calina's pov

I lied in bed, looking at the clock. As the sticks of the clock struck twelve and it was midnight, I sat on the bed.

Raphael didn't come this night, making me wonder if he felt guilty after what he had done to me. Though, it was too late to be sorry, the damage was done, and couldn't be undone.

Sighing, I got off the bed and went to my door. I crouched in front of the door and got to work as they locked me inside my room at the end of the day.

It took me five minutes to open the door lock with a hairpin. A smile appeared on my face as I pushed the door handle down and opened the door.

Cautiously, I poked my head out the door and checked the hallway. As I saw that none of his security guards was in sight, I went out quietly.

"Taking no chances means no freedom for you, Calina," I said, frowning, as I realized I was calling myself by my real name. I haven't heard my name in years and almost forgot what my own name sounded like.

Though, sneaking out of my room with Adrian's help was a habit of mine as I lived with my family, and I guess the similarity of the situation brought back some memories, making me call myself by my birth name.

However, Adrian didn't only help me sneak out, but taught me many things too, and one of them was how to open doors that had an alarm system as opening locked doors was always useful to me, especially as my father locked me in my room too.

I smiled at the memory of him teaching me how to break an alarm system with a screwdriver for the first time and me complaining about why I had to learn it, as he could do it for me, as he was always by my side.

But now I was grateful he had taught me, I could break every door I needed in order to get into the room where they had their electronic devices. I had to get into this room as I needed a bug to put it into Gabriela's purse.

She often left the mansion when the devil was not around. And I thought a lot during the day while doing my chores, thinking if she was really smart enough to outsmart him, making him believe I was the rat.

But she wasn't also, Raphael was cunning, and playing him off wasn't something she could do alone, making me come to the conclusion that someone had her back and helped her, someone who, for some mysterious reason, wanted me dead.

And I had to find out who this person was and what the fuck his problem was with me before ending up dead.

As I reached the hall with the room, which had a high level of electronic equipment, without being caught by anyone, I sighed in relief.

When I got to the door, I approached the little device next to the door before holding out my bobby pin and doing the trick Adrian showed me. Well, I didn't have a screwdriver, but a hairpin could work too, right?

I smiled as the device's small window changed from red to green and the door opened automatically. Slowly, I walked in before closing the door behind me.

Looking around, I found the room stocked with every shit a hacker could ask for. "I hope you have a bug too," I muttered before looking for a bug.

As I found a box full of bugs, I smiled before taking one. "Now I need a notebook," I mumbled, as I needed a small and old notebook that nobody would miss so that I could take with me.

It took me a while to find one. It was hidden behind some cables in a small closet. I opened the notebook to see if it was charged, or not. I closed it as I saw that the battery was full before tucking it under my shirt and leaving the room.
