I'm woken up to someone shaking me, I blink my eyes as they come into focus and I see Pomfrey standing there with her hands on her hips. "Miss Scamander, you were not allowed to stay here over night." She scolds me as I sit up and let me legs hang off the side of the bed. "I wasn't going to leave Draco on his own." I tell her, letting out a sigh. "Don't let it happen again." She says as she storms off. I sit on the bed smiling to myself while Draco sleeps, remembering the good parts from last night. I look over at Draco, so peaceful while he's sleeping. A little while passes and he starts to stir in bed, I turn to look at him and his eyes are opened looking at me. "You're still here?" He asks surprised. "Of course I am. I wasn't going to let you be alone." I say, smiling over at him. I see Pomfrey come back into the hospital wing. "You may go Mr Malfoy." She says, walking over to us. I stand up and fold up Draco's blanket to put into my bag. "Come on let's get you to the Great Hall for breakfast." I say, slinging my bag onto my shoulder. Draco and I slowly make our way to the Great Hall, when we get there I see Harry and Hermione staring at us. I ignore it as we continue towards our house table, we sit down next to each other and eat breakfast. "Oi, you okay Malfoy?" Goyle asks from down the table. "Why do you care? Kaylee was the only one who came to see me." Draco spits, Goyle doesn't respond he just goes back to eating. "Are you okay?" I ask quietly, hoping to not upset him even more. "It's- it's just disappointing. People I thought were my friends didn't even care to come see me. They didn't know how severe it was and they didn't come to check on me." He says, looking down at the table. "Sometimes things like this happen and it shows us who our real friends are." I say, looking over at him. "You're the only person that matters to me now Kaylee." He says, looking me in the eyes. I give him a smile and the put my arm around him giving him a side hug. "Come on, I want to show you something." I say standing up, waiting for him to do the same. I start walking out of the Great Hall and he follows. "Where are we going?" He asks, catching up to me. "Somewhere I've wanted to come to since I got here." I say, walking faster through the halls and out of the castle. I lead us to this tree by the lake and look around. "It's so nice out here." I say, walking closer the waters edge. "My great grandfather wrote about this in his journals. It was his favorite place at Hogwarts." I say, walking over to the tree. I spot a Bowtruckle peeking around a branch, I hold my hand out to it. "Also because of these." I say, pulling my hand back down with the Bowtruckle on it. "What is it?" He asks, walking closer to me. "A Bowtruckle, they were one of his favorite creatures." I say, admiring the timid creature in my hand. I put it back onto the tree with the others and sit down on the ground with my back against the tree. "It's so quiet out here. I feel so at peace." He says, sitting down next to me. "I could just stay out here forever, just the two of us." I say, staring out over the lake. Draco puts an arm around my shoulder, pulls me closer and I rest my head on him. "Where ever I am with you, it always feels like it's just the two of us. It's like the rest of the world fades away." He says, looking down at me. "Oh now who's the softie?" I say teasingly. "But no I get exactly what you mean." I say, turning to look at him. I lean in and kiss his cheek feeling my lips press against his warm skin. I lay my head back on him and he starts humming a song, I close my eyes and end up falling asleep.

I feel someone gently shaking my shoulder, I open my eyes to see Draco making me smile. "Kaylee it's starting to get dark, we should go inside. Dinner will be served soon." He says, standing up and offering me a hand. I grab onto his hand as he pulls me up from the ground a bit too fast, my body crashing into his. He wraps his arms around my waist, my hands hold onto his shoulders. He holds me close as I get my balance. "You good?" He asks quietly, looking down at me. I look up at him smiling, "yeah." I say breathlessly, he leans in and kisses my forehead. "Let's go have dinner." He says, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. I stumble along trying to keep up with his fast pace. Once we get inside the castle, he lets go of my hand. I look down at our parted hands, feeling an emptiness without his hand in mine. We make our way to the Great Hall. "You two better hurry." I hear Hermione say from behind us, walking quickly and passing us. "What? Why?" I ask confused, watching her walk up ahead of us. "I heard Dumbledore is making an announcement tonight before dinner." She says without turning around, her voice fading as she gets further away. "This will be interesting." Draco says, turning his head to me. By the time we make it in there I see Hermione already sitting at the Gryffindor table with everyone else. The Great Hall is packed with a hum of students talking. A lot of the Slytherin students turn and watch as Draco and I go to take our seats at the house table. "What the hell is everyone staring at?" Draco says loudly, making most people look away. "Who knows." I say, shrugging my shoulders and sitting across from Draco at the table. I hear a tap on a glass and look up to the front of the Great Hall where Dumbledore is standing at his podium with the owl on the front of it. "Good evening students. I have a special announcement to make. To honor Cedric Diggory's life. We have decided to make the Yule Ball an annual event. It will be taking place with all of the Hogwarts students in two weeks." Dumbledore announces proudly. There's a mixed reaction from the students, some excited and others not looking forward to it. The food on the table appears in front of us, I look back over and Draco is staring at me from across the table. "Are you okay?" I ask, trying to snap him back to reality. "What? Oh- umm yeah." He says, grabbing the water from in front of him. Most students at the table are talking about the Yule Ball now, about what they'll wear, who they'll ask to go with them but Draco doesn't say anything about it. Maybe the Yule Ball isn't his thing, even though he's the only person I want to ask me. I finish eating quickly and stand up to leave. "I'm going to get an early night." I say, looking at Draco. "Oh okay, goodnight." He says, looking up at me. "Goodnight Draco." I say, turning to leave towards the common room.
